What CD player are you using with Mac preamplifier and amp?

I continue to look for upgrading my Classe CDP-10 to go with C2200/M402/Aerial 8. Would like to know what CDP are you using and why?

There are many great players out there and listened to many, but I did find the MVP871 to be quite an exeptional source unit for stereo playback. I am also quite pleased with the video capability (am not into much HT but appreciate the quality upscaling of this piece). It was purchased for it's music reproduction and IMHO sounded better than the MCD500. Now that the 881 is out the 871, which I think is still in production, can be found at good pricing. Go take a listen. Also I can control it with the IR remote for the C46.

I mostly use ripped CDs in Apple Mac Mini with a TC Electric DAC, Pure Music Software and itunes. My favorite standard player is Cayin CD50t with a tube output and HDCD. Downloaded and vinyl recordings in 24/192 and 24/96 on the computer now sound better than the Cayin.

Am in agreement with Rick R. The MVP871 & MVP861 (same as the MVP871 without the HDMI link) are the hidden gems in the McIntosh CDP line-up. Terrific sound and bullet-proof reliability. And, should they break, as the MVP871 is still a current piece, you can be assured that parts are available. Many dealers had them as trade-ins at good prices when folks went for the MVP881 BluRay player. Call around to some of the larger metropolitan area McIntosh dealers and you might still find one or the other at a good price. That said, the MCD500 has the externally addressable 24/196 DAC should you be into using hi-rez music files.

I like the Rega Jupiter, but the Saturn is great also. The pricing is reasonable for what you get, and I do like the 'laid-back' sound.

I am/was running the MCD7007 unit the Sonos Zone Player came into the system. Keeping it on topic, have been visiting a local dealer and will be bringing the 7007 in for some A-B comparisons with newer (read 20+ years technology) players. Also will bring the CDs in that are perceived to have `coloration in vocals.´ Hopefully these tests will get to the bottom of things.

I, too, use the MVP871 with my C2300/MC252 combo. It is possiblle to get a NIB MVP871 for >$2000. I don't use the video portion. Only complaint is no graphic for total tracks yet to play. Very minor gripe.

Will the dealer let you turn that around? Bring his unit home to A/B in your system that you are familiar with? Especially if you are looking at a used MVP861/871. My local dealer often will do so if I let them run my credit card. I bought my MVP861 from IQ in Bethesda and he had two of each available at the time.

i am employing a bryston bcd-1 and a mac mvp871.
the bryston only plays redbook cd's, but it plays them extremely well.
if most of what you listen to are redbook cd's, i'm not sure replacing the bcd-1 with the mcd500 is an upgrade.
