MC 275 with C 2200?

I don't have a Mc402, but I do have a Mc602, Mc275 MK-V and a C2200. I really like the Mc275 & C2200 combo. Mc275 is a steal for what you get in sound. I also have a Mc2000 and IMO, it doesn't perform up to the cost.

The Aerials are somewhat inefficient (86dB, I believe), so if you listen at high levels or to very dynamic music you may find the MC275 somewhat lacking. That said, I have a C2300 that I use with either MC501s or a MC275, playing through 87 dB speakers (Magico Mini IIs). For most of my listening I find both amplifiers equally enjoyable. The bass with the MC275 is a little looser, but the midrange is very sweet. When I switch from one amp to the other I do not notice huge differences otherwise. I am not sure I would recommend switching from MC402 to MC275 as an upgrade with the expectation of a big improvement (or even difference) in sound. But as an alternative, if you can afford both I think it is worthwhile. I use tubes in the winter and the SS amps in the summer.
Caveat - I do not listen at concert levels and I have old man ears so frequencies above 12kHz don't mean much to me. Mostly listen to acoustic music, chamber, jazz and classic rock.

The MC275 would be a great addition to your system, but I would not replace the MC402. I use a pair of MC352's in my personal system along with the C2200. I also have an MC275 in the system as well. Depending on what kind of listening mood I am in will change what I listen too. The MC275 is a smooth warm sounding unit, great for jazz when I want a low volume warm sound. When I want more of a rock & roll dynamic (without getting bright) I use the MC352's
So the MC275 was an ADDITION to the system. I am very happy I did it.

Wow - beautiful combo. How did you get the MC2000 to the top of that unit, and what's the unit made of? Reinforced steel?
I have the MC2000 and love it, but agree that at the original $15,000 retail, it's relatively overpriced compared to the 2102 and the 275.

Ryan, that is definitely over the top! How do you have the amp specifically hooked up? I know you can select different amp through the C2200 and turn them on and off with a power link cable. Do you use the same speakers and have to change the cables on the back each time? Specifically, what type of music do you prefer the tubed amp and which is better with solid state? Thanks.

The C2200/MC275MkV is a wonderful pair. Would still have mine if my new, less efficient speakers had played nicely with the 90wpc of the MC275MkV. I found that some tube rolling would also improve the sound over stock tubes.
