Wall planks are from Acoustic Sciences Corporation ... I like the simplicity of the system. As Tommy indicates, set up is visually pleasing, and as far as acoustics are concerned, I have found that the CD/vinyl recording quality is very important so I tend to listen to the same albums over and over again.
You didn't buy McIntosh to listen to the same albums over and over again.
That's the beauty of McIntosh, a smooth, forgiving system that allows you to relax and enjoy music. Many hear have re-discovered their CD collections when moving to McIntosh, I know I have. :yes: Your room seems a little sterile and a bit empty and is probably a little too "live". I can tell you that ASC planks help but your room could use more. What I did this time around instead of getting the whole room treated is to go out and buy the biggest and densest plastic plants I could find. Guess what? It worked like a charm and looks good. No more early reflections and peaks in the highs, the wicker pots even soak up some bass when placed in the corners. :thmbsp:You didn't buy McIntosh to listen to the same albums over and over again.
That's interesting, plastic plants. Do you use them in the corners or on the sides of each speaker?

PHC1, I had sent pics of the room to ACS and they suggested bass traps behind right speaker and the wall planks, I have not done the bass trap since they would be rather big. Plastic plant / wicker basket is an interesting idea. Can you share your room treatment. It is interesting that despite the room being sterile, some of the recordings sound very boxed in while others very open
ASC bass traps are a great investment, not only do they smooth out the bass but also expand the soundstage as well as adding overall coherence due to the bass not mucking up the midrange. A properly and fully treated room also becomes "holographic". Treating a room to that extent though is expensive and often doesn't pass the WAF. Try the plants like I mentioned, you may be really surprised at how much they improve the acoustics of the room. I'll try to take some new pics sometime soon.

Thought it might be the basement. Are you able to control the climate ok? such as humidity, etc? What is that on the 402 power cord? is it simply the cord `wound up´ or some kind of filter? The amp is so close to the floor. I'd be concerned about the cat, or a vacuum cleaner having a close encounter.
Looks like you're on your way to a premium system!!

Humidity control is fine via a dehumidifier which is off when I am listening. All power cables are from MIT cable with their AC RF noise filter. I am using Amp platform from Zeothecus .... they are very well made. All Amp. stands I have seen are that low to the ground presumably to keep Amps out of sight, just be careful when you vacuum .....
