I always use the normal male IEC socket on stuff but have seen this type (in the picture) and don't know anythink about it. Is there "stuff" in the box that does something worth investigating???

It's got a built in circuit breaker i believe. Note the total absence of fuses anywhere under the hood.

A little sleuthing suggests it is equipped with a power switch, fuse, and EMI filter. There are so many kinds and combinations that reading that label is the only way to be sure.

Cool. That might be something to use in future projects. I like the all in one feature.

Here you go, it's great stuff, I'm about to use it my little projects ;)

They have them at Mouser and DigiKey. Corcom makes the ones I like to use.

I've used the filter type, but not the breaker or fuse type. I'm a bit picky about my breakers and fuses, which is stupid, I know.

btw, Nagle, it's dude's like you that keep me coming back to AK day after day. I love to see your work, and you are so laid back about it, not cocky at all. You be the real deal Mang.:thmbsp:

Thanks Jay. I will say the same about you. On other sites, if I ask a questions, it is more often than not, that the long time members are the grimudguns (sp). I am building a BOM for my GM70 amp that I hope to complete by the end of this month and added 3 of these IEC sockets just to have in inventory.
