What is YOUR pet peeve? Let's have a laugh.

Why oh why are trash bags and garbage bags scented these days? I can almost understand garbage bags theoretically (not in reality) masking the smell of rotting raw trimmings or something, but trash bags? All I can say is the B2B salespeople at the fragrance companies must be very good.

Today's peeve- STINKY PEOPLE

Sweet baby Jesus... I went to the store today, and I began to smell this putrid smell of unbathed flesh mixed with cat piss and feces. I have helped clean hoarder homes that smelled like this, so it brought back memories... I wondered where this funk was coming from, since nobody was around. It was just hanging in the air like the greasy mist over a boiling fry basket. I rounded the corner, and there was this guy who's hair was so greasy, it looked like he screwed a bucket of crisco on his head as a hat, then spun it off. I thought, "I bet he's the culprit". I walked past him though, and strangely, I didn't smell it getting any stronger. I started to second-guess myself, then POW! My nose was upper-cutted by cat-hoarder hell! I audibly gasped uncontrollably and nearly puked into my cart.

Listen friends, I am sympathetic to the depressed, the homeless, and anyone else who might miss a bath every now and then. But my nose doesn't even work that well. I can barely smell anything usually. But this was SO. BAD. My wife rounded the corner after me and she was gagging too (and she was not trying to be funny, literally gagging). And she cleans up biohazards for a living!

I'm sitting here, typing this, and the smell is seared into my nose. I can still smell it. I think this was the worst smelling person I have ever experienced. And I think, what does his house smell like? His car? The horror. I mean, I could smell the guy 3 aisles away even with my half-defective nose!

I don't know what I am getting at, other than DAMN... Take a shower before you go out in public and wash your clothes. If you can't do it for yourself, do it for your fellow humans.

When I watched ballgames on TV as a kid, if a guy was pitching a no-hitter, the announcers wouldn't say a word about it. Baseball tradition -- you don't mention anything about a no-hitter while it's in progress. If it got broken up, then you'd hear all about it, but otherwise, players, coaches, announcers, fans -- everybody kept quiet.

Now you start hearing about it in the fifth inning and if the pitcher takes it into the seventh, they won't shut up about it.

'Course in the old days, bringing in a reliever during a no-hitter would have been unheard of, too.

Leaves. There is a constant debate in my neighborhood. Several people cut down all the trees in their yards and now complain about leaves coming in their yards.

I have some trees in my yard, but there are 9 trees in my neighbors' yards that border my property. I get a lot of leaves, about 60 tarps worth every year. My wife and I rake them up. The leaves don't have addresses on them to show where they came from. You can't predict where a leaf is going to land when it falls from a tree. Just get over it and clean up your yard and realize you can't control nature.

@bobsvinyl you mention this- we have a neighbor that cut all theirs down for safety, and the leafload situation. They do expect us to rake 'our' leaves off of their yard. Nope.

Last year, there was a sharp line of distinction between my freshly raked yard and theirs. She took a few rake swipes to throw some leaves onto our yard to send a message. Nope- they went back over. It sat this way into mid-Dec when she finally decided to do her raking.

This year, the woman had their final pro lawn cutter cut and deal with leafiness and wouldn't you know? That jackass blew the yard/leaf litter onto our yard. When confronted about what he just did, all he said was "I don't do back and forths" and also said that he was no longer their service and it's not his problem. So anyway, beyond that, he blew some of it onto the Court in front of out sidewalk. I am OK with that. But a couple of days later, there was a neat pile of those leaved raked to the front of my car (I park on the Court). I can't deal this year with this stuff due to my recent knee replacement, so wife ain't havin' it and raked that pile back from whence it came.

So yeah. She is the only one on the Court (of eight houses) who has an address and 'return to sender' problem with leaves. Did I mention that we both abut a County wooded area? I suppose that they are demanding that the County come and rake her back yard?

I "do" my leaves about twice a season. Once when all my trees are finished shedding, and again when all the neighbors trees are finished shedding. I've tried just doing it once per season, but the leaves are like a foot deep and it's just too much.

But I have a couple neighbors who blow leaves every day or every other day. "Ain't nobody got time fo' dat". I keep a neat yard, but not that neat, lol.

So today's peeve- LEAF BLOWERS. Yeah, I run one. But at least it's electric, and I get the job over with as fast as possible. Some of my neighbors run gas leaf blowers, and they constantly rev them, and take their sweet time with the job. More work, less vroom-vroom, mmkay?

I call my house "The Catchers Mitt"
I get the bulk of my leaves with a rake and tarp, but when the wind blows, all the neighbors leaves and all trees in the woods blow down the street and my property catches them all. I have to do the leaves several different times in the fall. I do have a massive backpack blower that I usually use for a final clean up. Most neighbors are good about picking up their leaves, but when it's windy there's not much they can do.

Come'on Te, You know that you have fun out there in your fall "get-up" and blowing all them leaves. ;)

non-disabled people parking in handicapped spots because of arrogant, narcissistic personality defects.:thumbsdown:

Yes, as a "legit crip", I whole heartily concur !
Funny, my outspoken father, now RIP since 2007, used to question people he would see get out of their car parked in handicap parking spaces with no apparent physical issues, and sometimes claim to them that they must be one of those "mentally handicapped" when they acted arrogant to his challenging verbal commenting of no struggling physical ambulatory issues with them..

Got a pet peeve re. "Halloween". Make that two, as the first impacts the second.

The creeps who taint the candy given out to the unsuspecting kids! They are still out there, but now in some cases lacing the sweets with drugs!

The second, being that due the first mentioned peeve, the kids now no longer can get homemade cookies, candy popcorn balls, and other treats that we used to be able to collect!

A changed world today, I guess.

Sorry no laughs on the above:no:...just peeves that are justified!
