What McIntosh Gear Are You Using?

This is a really neat thread. I can't believe I've been missing out all my life. I'm newly ordained into the world of McIntosh and wondering why I waited so damn long. Recently acquired an MC-250/C-26 combo. Wow. Just wow. I suspect everyone else here already feels the same way. I've been spending a lot of time in the garage (just temporary) until they find a home inside. 20250421_194854.jpg

A C2500, the McIntosh Class D amp, and two MC75 monoblocks.

Using a Marchand 3 way crossover to tie it all together.... Sonusfaber Olympica 1s (NOT nova model) and dual Ryhtmik subs.

I am considering adding both the MQ112 and the MEN220. The MQ112 between preamp and the Marchand. And the MEN220 inserted in the processor loop.
I don't see why this wouldn't work but who knows. Can't find a solid reply. Have a reply back from a Mc "guru" steering me towards I ought to get a C55 preamp and more or less do away with the Marchand, and then just insert the MEN220 in its processor loop. Was looking more for a yes your idea would definitely work OR "a your idea may work but might not be optimal because......".

But I like the Marchand and I like all the connectivity the C2500 provides (Tape fanatic and I have a headphone amp too---so even with the connectivity I still need to insert an outboard tape switch).

Yes, I will probably be over-geared. It will be a while (as in next summer) regarding the MEN220 anyway I think. Likely for now (this summer) I will just pick up the MQ112 and a Revox B215 cassette deck I am eyeing.

I’m running a pair of fully restored mono C8 preamps, a pair of restored MC30’s, and a custom built power supply for the C8’s. I also have a minty MC225 with original tube cage.
I Googled C8 to see one, and the first thing to come up was a new 2-channel preamp that looks nothing like the original mono ones you have. Why in the world would McIntosh choose a number they already used for a new product? Numbers are free.

Following up to say I did hear from Ken Zelin and what I want to do will work---in fact I can cascade both the MEN220 and MQ112 from the C2500 processor loop. So issue solved. Now it just comes to when I do all this. Probably the MQ112 first this summer.

Pioneer did the same thing with at least a couple items I know of.

Added a MEN220 this past weekend. A nice price from Audio Classics; it is the latest iteration with the ethernet port instead of serial port. Work a treat bringing tightened more pronounced bass, and overall, another degree of clarity across the soundstage. Yes, even in an 11X12 foot room.

That’s my set up, Gyro SE/Denon Dl103/Denon AU250 step up, pre Copland CTA301, MC30 monobloks, Arcam Alpha, Altec 19 and some other vintage gear.

A new to me McIntosh MA6200. The old one I have is defective in that the front switches no longer work properly. My wonderful wife told me, instead of going crazy trying to fix the thing, get a replacement. (The switches in question are long out of stock and no longer available). The new one is now in service with Polk 7b monitors and soon, a Denon DP-35f or 37f (I'm not home and I forget the model) e/w a Pickering XV-15 cart (I need to finish building a stand for it) and then a also a Thorens TD-150 mounting a Denon DL-300 cartridge. I promised my wife I would simplify the system (It used to be on shelves covering one of the living room walls, no more) so all other input/output is via my desktop computer and hers.

I am continuing the effort to replace those faulty switches with some that work so that I can sell the old one and recoup some of the cost of the new one.

My daughter says when the new one arrived I squealed like a kid waking up Christmas morning. :p

Color me stoked!
