MC2100 (I wish it had an ON/OFF switch), MR77 Tuner, C28 Preamp, Rebuilt Sota Sapphire Table, Shanling T2000 CD deck, Martin Logan ESL's. That's enough for this old guy. .
The MC2100 is plugged into a switched 120V outlet on the C28. When the preamp is turned on so is the amp. . . . . Chris
Yes. It can work that way, but after 50 years, those on off volume controls have a limited life. MAC doesn't sell a replacement. Aftermarket is available if your tech can find it and replace it. I ve had it changed on a couple of my C28's. I also use the SCR2 accessory for the C28 which switches on power for power amps. Its also not really good for the C28 volume knob to control switching for power amp power. I plug the C28 into a power strip with an on/off switch, The CSR2 plugs directly into a wall outlet. The power amp into the SCR2. I leave the C28 volume knob in the on position. When I switch on the power strip, it all comes on. The C28 volume control is also notorious for not controlling the the volume of the 2 channels equally. Its happened to me. You might want to make some changes to extend the life of your C28. Good luck.
