What speaker test do you find most relevant? (tone burst, square wave, etc)

So many people I knew in my teens, bass waaay up. Hey if that’s what you like that’s fine. To those who apparently have said specs don’t matter, enjoy what you enjoy, there are so many things out there that sound good, ... a well-tuned Harley can sound good to some, awful to others. Music is still music however you listen.

What I'm about to state, please, nobody get ill at me.

I can go back and set my receivers (what few I still have) like I once did, and marvel how I EVER thought that sounded good.

Loudness button is just a big hell no to my ears now. Any eq is used to sculpt away, NEVER to add (and I don't use eq's, anyway).

Putting giant monkey coffins against the wall. UGH!

God lives in the midrange, so that's where I'm focused. However, this is after 50 years of this stuff.

I have friends that literally think the bass should be over powering and boomy and pounding and that is how they like it.

So pardon me, when I see guys say, "My ears are my best judge".....lol
I am also not saying measurements are the ONLY thing, but wow hearing systems that are "Tuned" by ear, makes one realize, the final goal can be very convoluted!

Everyone that says measurements and specs do not matter......

Do you not care about accuracy in any way at all?

Over the years I have had several friends say the same thing, and after hearing their systems, they all were VERY colored and lacking in accuracy in very noticeable ways.
I’ve found the best meter is following the buzz an item gets on this forum. My listening space is imperfect. I’m limited budget and consumption is local typically via fb. Differentiating with more macro parameters like materials, size/drivers, brand name and associated tonal timbre characteristics… that’s the level of criteria.

Cuz as I see it, speakers are like running backs. If they can’t play, they don’t stay. The ones that have maintained a slot in the depth chart…tbh I don’t have the micro data on them.

Do I need that? I’m not designing. Or a journalist/expert. Do I want to know that? Or is ignorance bliss? Im always fascinated and want to dive deeper. But stats, numbers, data… I’m in discussions at work all the time where the blurring because we over micro and still don’t master the macro is normal. tldr follow the wisdom of the crowd. best method I got so far.
