Why not shoot for the stars? He may get close on that much if someone's looking to complete a collection. Still, it's awfully high for a receiver that, while iconic, isn't known for having the most dynamic headroom in the world.

As with the recent tops and exorbitant expectations (see 1980's, 2600's, this one, 33000's) listing for several (or tens of) thousands. These asking prices are a recent trend and I wonder...

That 2600 is still listed after a couple of months, and asking continues to drop. But 3.5K may be the ticket for this SA-1000.

Best,
Tyler

Well when some yahoo turns down $1475 for a pair of Pioneer HPM-100 Acrylic Sales Demos... is anything impossible these days?

Is there a bubble developing in Vintage Audio Equipment? :scratch2:

Relisted and sold for $2000.

Wow.....I personaly had a fair amount of use with that receiver in High School..Our AV dept had one, and myself and another student convinced the powers that be that it would be cheaper to let "Us" provide music for class dances than to hire in a regular DJ, and it was. We had it paired in a small gym with a pair of "EV" stage type speakers. 15" woofer, and a "baby butt cheek style
horn tweet if memory serves. At anything more than 80watts continous (according to the technics pretty dancing power meter lights) the protection circuit would cut in and shut us down...:( This from a rated 330wpc unit? No head room was right. We had it check over and over, nothing "faulty" could be found. It was a heavy brute though!
