What's your "go to song" to test bass in your rig?

I love hearing all kinds of bass in a system, from classic rock, to jazz stand up bass to electronica and beyond.

What is your go to song to check for bass in your system or that you simply enjoy the bass lines?

Rob Wasserman and Jennifer Warnes "Ballad of the Runaway Horse". Play with speaker positioning until all the bass notes seem to play at the same level.

For fun, the bass drop in Ry Cooder's "UFO Has Landed in the Ghetto" is pretty impressive.


For acoustic bass, I like "Sauerkraut 'N Solar Energy" from this:

if setting up a new sub etc I just use a few I'm familiar with, once set it's "set it and forget it" no more adjusting.

I don't much test my own systems, but I do a lot of fixing things, refoams, etc, and I like this track for bass testing:

Mainly because not only is it low, I can hear any cabinet rattles, voice coil rattles/scrapes, etc., but it also has some simultaneous high-notes, so you can hear any crossover issues. Basically if I play this track and it sounds clean at high volume, it passes one of my quality control checks.

If I'm testing speakers that can't go that low, I like to use AC/DC Back in Black. It's very crisp and punchy, and great for showing off speakers that have a narrow frequency response.

Nice clean recording, good song , 100 watts or so on efficient speakers should hit you in the throat well.

I don't have a certain song I use to check bass but for overall sound quality I like to use The Temptations Papa was a Rolling Stone.
In my opinion this song has plenty of lows,mids,highs,along with excellent stereo separation and presentation.

Descending synth bass bottoms out around 30Hz. Big soundstage. It'll give your system a workout. (This is a MP4. Suggest finding it as a .flac or CD)

Edit: No sub in my sysyem. I want to hear, and feel, the bass, but it's not the most important part of the listening experience, for me.
