What's your "go to song" to test bass in your rig?

All good that I have read so far…

Here’s mine:

- Lou Reed: “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” (original recording or as close as you can get)
- Pink Floyd: “Dark Side of the Moon” (pick it!)
- Michael Jackson: “Thriller”
- Joe Jackson: “Look Sharp”
- Elton John: “Take me to the Pilot”
- Stanley Clark: pick it
- Earth Wind and Fire: Early albums
- Jefferson Airplane: opening track to “Bless its Pointed Little Head”
- The Who:”Who’s Next”, “Behind Blue Eyes”
- Clapton: “Let it Rain” or Bell Bottom Blues”
- Beatles: “Oh Darling”, “Taxman”, “Day Tripper”
- St. Saens Symphony No. 3 in C minor
- Toccata and Fugue in D minor
- Charles Mingus: early albums (if you can get remastered, a plus)

Mino Cinelu - self titled. Second cut, Moun Madinina - Insane wall-rocking bass if your system's up to it.

I've never heard of Mino before this. Thanks for posting it - it's really good!

Here's a few that I use:
Little Mix, Joan Of Arc
Boney James, Nothin' But Love
Bela Fleck And The Flektones, Jekyll and Hyde
Stanley Clarke, I'm Home Africa
Idris Muhammad, Loran's Dance

With all of them I like the music. It's secondary that they have great bass.

There are numerous speaker and system test threads in the AK archive. Search using keywords like "system test," or "speaker test" and you should be rewarded with some interesting reading. I personally have responded to more than fifteen of these and as always, I recommend "Jump Into the Fire" from Nilsson Schmilsson. Listen for the part where Herbie Flowers unwinds his E string.

I prefer a massive, natural acoustic bass, and its cohort in bass amplitude, the Hutchins Bass violin basses, of the New Violin Family Octet of violins. Of the two in the video still, the smaller is the profile of a normal concert bass. The one on the right is massively larger, and ranges down to 32hz, natural acoustic response.
These are by Dr. Carleen Hutchins, as part of The Hutchins Consort performing octet, the only set of them being played; all others are in private collections (british royalty has a set), and, museums, as show pieces.
My pet project since their inception, apprx. 2001, The Hutchins Consort New Violin Family Octet, or THC for short.

The recording - best mics possible:
Royer dynamic stereo ribbon on center
Earthworks QTC-1 omni pair on flanks (if memory serves me well, flat response to 5hz)
The hall?!?
Neurosciences Institute Auditorium - La Jolla, Ca
designed to study the effects of music and sound on the human mind. Thought to be one of the finest small concert halls in the world; -300 seats. You sit within the bandshell, and, phenomenal sound throughout the hall. It is a musically friendly anechoic chamber.

Summertime - Gershwin by THC

And, then there is this one from a live pipe organ recording:

(a hint,... look to the blob on the left)

PF DSOTM, The Doors "Riders on the rain" extended remastered version, Dire Straits "Private Investigations". Five finger death punch "Blue on Black" . Just to name a few. Liked the ELP cut too.
