What's your "go to song" to test bass in your rig?

Any early Gino Vannelli. While I'm not all that crazy about the man himself, his backup band was killer. Sweet early bass synth tones.

"Lady" is one I execute at high volume to separate the leaders from the whimps and not just the bass. If the system cannot deliver the impact without strain seek a solution.

I am not a Mariah Carey fan at all, but this particular mix of this song is the only version that’s acceptable to me. It has some of the loudest, deepest sustained bass of any I’ve heard.
I especially like using it to demonstrate Subzilla that I completed a few months ago. This is a sealed 18” or so cube with a high excursion 15” driver. This sucker needs many hundreds of watts to really open up and shine, but that’s why I have pro amps. I’m currently using it with a QSC amp bridged to 900 watts mono. Even with clip lights flashing, it’s never sounded strained. Ever. It just gets more and more ridiculous with the amount of good, deep bass it outputs.
I recently took this sub and amp over to a friend’s house. We used it in his concrete walled and floored basement music room that also had a concrete ceiling with one wall facing outside. It’s got a framed finish ceiling with can lights. His system has dual 15” subs too, but I knew there’d be no competition with Subzilla. I was correct. All his can lights vibrated like crazy, as did a few other things. His subs did nothing like that.
The really fun thing is that the combination of this subwoofer and song typically makes people laugh. It’s not that annoying bass with rattle one commonly hears from some cars; it’s just crazy deep bass that you absolutely feel.

Time Warp and the Drum Record are classic speaker killers.

Personally, I find King Missile's "It's Saturday" spoken word over drum solo more entertaining if you are seeking reproduction of dynamics. The CD delivers, hope this online version is as good.

Warning; Not safe for children

Bass - Hoedown from Bela Fleck and the Flektones from the LP Outbound or Flight of the Cosmic Hippo from the LP of the same name.

Came here to post this.

Honorable mention:

Beyonce "Partition"
Living Colour "Sunshine of Your Love" (Cream cover)
I'm assuming that someone has already mentioned to find a good recording of good ol' Johann Sebastian's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor...

Well there is always pink noise. If I am lazy any of the DAllas Winds recorded by Reference recordings or Telarc Recordings with big pipe Organ.

Cotton Jones - The Spinning Wheel

Mayra Andrade - 96 Days - (this one gives speakers the most trouble)

Destroyer - The Bad Arts
(and this is just one of my favourite songs, so I know it the best)

(of course these sound better off of YouTube...)

Philip Glass - Prophecies (Koyaanisqatsi)
Art of Noise - Moments in Love
The Beloved - The Sun Rising

Three that come immediately to mind.

Try THIS:

Impulse! - Wall of pressure.

Be careful, as the very beginning is very deep and profound. The recording engineer is very clever and has used the compression pointed to the music instead at the vocalist. Even though it was set to compress the vocals. It has a hook, so enjoy!
