What's your "go to song" to test bass in your rig?

I just tried a few tracks of this (via Spotify), my goodness that is some serious BASS - you couldn't want for more, but the music itself... not so much. ;)
I just listened to this too, a nice track - nice bass too, not overpowering with bass just there - good track, I like it. ;)

Glad you tried it out and liked it John. I wouldn't steer you wrong, even if you do drive on the wrong side of the road. :D

Chronicle, by CCR.
Particularly side one, track 2: I Put A Spell On You, and track 3: Proud Mary.

Nothing specific but it ranges from Bill Evans (Sunday At The Village Vanguard) and a particular live performance -- and terrific SQ recording -- of/by NU Metal band KoЯn.

Those two pretty much cover the gamut of "what's bass" for me.

Don't have a bass track or a tinkle track for tweeters or a mid range torture track.
If my speakers are reasonably capable & properly set up, they should reproduce all frequencies in proportion to the recording.
Were I into dance music or hip hop, I might think differently.
Some fun tracks attached here tho.

Maybe I can make that song - All About That Bass by Megan Someone. A friend’s wife, would come over, drink A LOT of wine and have to hear that song. This can be my go-to bass song. Although I don’t think Megan was referring to audio.

Now, for a go-to ukulele song…

I have actually put a test cd together, of which I am now on version 5. The songs I use for bass are;
Genesis - Carpet Crawler - Original version from the lamb. This song brought many systems to their knees, and became my go to song.
Holly Cole Trio - I can see clearly now - The acoustic bass in this is just to die for!
Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side - I love hearing the fingers on the strings in this, plus hearing the choir moving closer.

I second BTO, in particular, Not Fragile.

And then there is this one. Most systems can't play it, but watch out on ones that can.
Avril Lavigne - SK8TR BOI - This is the only song I've found that was able to push my Bose 901s series 2 to peg my Bose 1801 amplifier. Bass you can feel, if the system can do it.

Lou Reed!!! Posted that one earlier as well.

That is one of the “go to” cuts back in the day when I was selling this stuff as brand new.

Besides many of the great suggestions by AK er’s across all genres, this one can separate the “men from the boys” when it comes to deciding which speakers you want to go with.

There are very few listening experiences that can do as well as a good recording of a double bass.

Be sure to have lots of clean power (minimum 100W a side) otherwise it will clip the hell out of any amp that cannot handle it!

Another one from way back. Grand Funk Railroad original Live Album.
I don't know if there is a bass guitar setting or an effect pedal for "growl" but if there is Mel has it turned on through the whole album.
Here's a track that highlights it somewhat.

ADDED---sounds like crap on my computer speakers which can't really reproduce the bass. On my big rig it sounds much better. Even though it's not the greatest recording to start with.

I also like some of the stuff from the band Yes. Their bass guitarist had a distinctive sound IMO.
