What's your latest audio purchase?

Yet another cheap Chi-Fi tube based board kit to have fun with. This will be the third one. This preamp board will have various resistor type swaps and film cap value changes until it sounds the way I want it to. I'll also be using a high voltage switch mode power supply. The same switcher worked out great in a single ended amp build.
It will be built into a wood chassis to match an amp I built using a cheap
Chi-Fi amp board kit in an all wood chassis. I also cut a hole in the wooden plate to sandwich a piece of 1/8" aluminum plate between the heat sink and switcher on the preamp project.

I'm curious; Do you want to experience the difference or already know you want both for variation?
Adding a HP setup to my nightstand. Started with a balanced Fosi DAC/Amp from Barter Town. I’ve been a strictly planar magnetic head for home use since getting my Yamaha HP-1 orthodynamics 50 years ago. So dipping a toe in the dynamic HP pond. I’ll keep the ones I like best. So yes to experiencing the difference differently.
 
Philips N5748 3 head cassette deck for €150,- euros from eBay Germany. Purchased buy now, as is, for parts or repair. Just now delivered.
The deck, is the black rack mount ( Black Tulip deck).

After first power on and inserted a cassette I noticed it had a solenoid issue. After engaging play or FF or RW it starts a rapid solenoid loop by engaging, disengaging engaging, and so in and so forth.
After swapping all boards from this one in one of my Philips N2552'sband vice versa, l it bacame clear it is not an issue in these motor drive / logic control boards. Because these boards work perfectly in my technically the same Philips N2552's and Philips N5741.
So probably a bad solenoid, a dirty or shirting switch? But not likely, because when the transport starts using current by moving the take,, the solenoid doesn't stay engaged. So maybe a capacitor / problem in the power supply, board? (which is soldered and I couldn't swap, test out yet)

To get continued so to speak. All in all not a bad gamble.

Pair of original 8 foot MIT MH-750 Music Hose in double run configuration. I remember drooling over these back in the 80’s when our local shop had these between a couple of massive mono blocks and the Mirage M1’s. Paid $20 but not sure what to really do with them. Maybe split them up into 2 pairs of 8 footers? We’ll see.

I'm keeping the DT-770 Pro X based on comfort as the Senns are too tight on my mellon. Sound was comparable.

Now back home.

Right on photo: 20x E10 fitting / size 5mm diameter 6v, 100mA , (2500k extra warm white) for the meters in my cassette decks and receivers

Left on photo: 20x E10 fitting / size 5mm diameter 6.3v, 250 mA, (2500K extra warm white) for the dial scales in my two Philips receivers and my tuner.

You see with the AC lime voltage up last 30 years from 220 to 230v (on average 227 volt) Therefore these bulbs run on a little higher voltage then intended. And the bridge rectifiers and voltage regulators can't compensate for everything. So you can never got enough of these bulbs, so thought.
But one can off course put a resistor in series to reduce the actual DC supply voltage to these bulbs I suppose or run a step down.
Maybe it would be interesting to see if these bulbs get more then 6v resp. 6.3 volts. If I got the answer I come back on this.

If you would @63pontiacgp ......I picked this up for very little money. Want to do some experimenting with it but wanted to make sure I wasn't tearing apart a radio worth a bazillion $$$. Your input is very much appreciated.

Fairly common but nice radio. Have fun playing with it. Filter caps are sure to need replacing. Also keep in mind that it's a "hot" chassis.

I sold one exactly like that about a year ago.
