What's your latest audio purchase?

A mid 1970s NOS Official 'Sansui' Japanese Crown 'Jack' cigarette butane lighter, in the original box, with original paperwork. $1.04 plus $3 shipping. Outstanding.

Bought it just to set it on the table next to the Sansui stereo system. Haven't even 'charged it' yet with butane. Probably never will. It's just for Sansui 'looks' in the open box. Just got it for fun.

I bought a C-515BEE a couple years ago and it's simply great. Sounds and functions wonderful. :thmbsp:

It's a great sounding CD player!! I'm was, and still am, really suprised on how wonderful it really does sound. It's a great machine.

Grant Fidelity Tube DAC-11
This thing is an upgrade over the M-Audio 2496 sound card for computer audio, and makes my CD's sound great. I had a problem with static at first, but it was due to a bad connection via coax to the sound card. Being the impatient type that I am, I called Grant Fidelity directly and had a nice chat with Ian Grant. He suggested the USB/Asio connection, and I'm good to go.
 
got my annual bonus, bought a bunch of parts... three big projects on tap to re-stuff the console (again); a Hagerman Cornet phono, JE labs 76/6SN7 pre, PP 300b monoblocks. Have been collecting parts for years - this is the final push to get it all ready to go.

time to get off the net and start building...

Its coming along very nicely! I really am enjoying it a lot......It matches very sweet to my Epic 2's. It has about 40-50 hrs, seller said it needed 500...OMG really! I hope its closer to 300hrs......Its pretty sweet! I will update [thread=427039]this thread[/thread] as I get more hours on it.

I need a CDP.....I am interedsted in your 515BEE or 545BEE. I have heard there were some transport issues but seems your happy with your NAD CDP?
 
Schiit Bifrost. I am very pleased with it. Now I know what they mean when they say "it lifted a veil" off the sound of my system. :D

So far my 515 has functioned fine (knock on wood). It does jam up on 'one' of my boot CDs, and for some reason always jamms up at the same exact spot on the same exact song on the CD, but all my other hundreds of CDs have played fine. I have no idea why it jamms up on That CD, but that is just the way it goes. It's only that one CD and that CD plays fine in my other CD players??? I really don't know.

But I'm really very happy and pleased with the 515. I'm really very amazed at it's sound quality. Far beyond what I was expecting. I didn't know CDs could sound so good. I'm a TT guy and I find myself playing CDs now 50% of the time.

I've heard that 'a few folks' are having 'transport issues', whatever that means, with their units. Do you know what type of 'transport problems' they are having? I'd just like to be aware of it.

Mine's been fine so far. It's been 2 years now so I think any potential problems would of surfaced by now. We'll see. Happy so far, hope it stays that way.

So far, so good. I really don't expect perfection with anything made now-a-days to be quite honest.

Last week was tuner week for me with 2 packages coming in. One was a PunkerX Sansui tu9900 and the other a Dewicked Mcintosh mr78.
 
Klipsch Heresy's, and they're doing A/V duty. Now that's heresy! OK, OK, it's only lack of space that prevents them from doing music, it's not by preference.

I think what I have read has been about the tray making a lot of noise, which might mean it is not level when assembled, might cause some "jitter" type problems.....but not 100% sure.

I too am a TT guy but my CDP is dying, it has trouble playing a lot of my CDs. Funny that those it has problems with, if I just copy them to a CDR it will play them fine. Seems to me it is an issue with lower quality blank CDs pressing plants use sometimes.
I have no interest in trying to fix my vintage Sony CDP-302...its been a great machine for 25yrs. Especially since it has no digital outputs, I'm ready for coax out.
I will audition NAD players for sure.
 
2 Ashley FTX 2001s. 60lbs of power xfmr with a couple dozen equisite vintage Mosfets all dancing together in each one.

With each one, you get:
1kw into 8 ohms @ .005% THD.
More power than any audio enthuasist should be allowed to own by law, made in the good ole USA (Rochester NY - about 80 miles from here).
a really cool flashing light display,
a hernia with a linecord,
and, in a pinch, a really good sounding arc welder.

Hope they don't let me down, but I've only heard good things about them.

This is my 1st try at high powered gear, I've always gone the high efficency speaker, minimalist (Usually Class A) amplifier route - 100wpc is probably as big as I've owned since 1980.

They're tad more than I need for my 604s, but there's plans for a pair of 18" subs formimg up on my drawing board. And something really solid to put the turntable on. Good thing I live in a rural area.
