I got mine from the reedger when I refoamed my JBL L19s with 116H woofers and the surround fit perfectly. I think they were either $5 each or $8 each I can't remember.

I got mine from Rick Cobb. They were $16.99 for the pair including glue and test-tone CD. Shipping was $6. I'm sure I could have asked him to knock off a few bucks without the CD or glue. He did adjust the price and only charged one shipping fee when I ordered four surrounds for my L150As. This time it just didn't seem worth the trouble. Even then Rick emailed me to make sure which model I was re-surrounding so I'd get the exact match. Sometimes your vendor knowing the product is worth a few extra bucks!

The guy wants $200 obo for the speakers. Considering they have the wrong woofers I'd only want to pay about $75 for them.. (Canadian dollars). Someone will buy them from him not realizing that they're the wrong woofers.

I would do the same - pass @ $200 and offer $60, pointing out the incorrect woofers. He may be a standup guy and drop the price, maybe not to $60, or he may wait and try to find someone that is unaware.

The tweeters are no longer in production and are going up in value, so if you get these speakers, make sure that all of the drivers work before purchase and that you protect the tweeters after.

Not that the price makes the subjects of this thread any more affordable, but there are two 116H-1s on that popular auction site even as we speak. Two separate auctions, same seller, one with a dented dust cap (easy fix, ask how), asking quite a bit of coin considering what complete systems have sold for recently, but they are "or best offer". I just picked up a pair of these locally, replaced one bad tweeter, and was enjoying them for a few weeks - and then the foam ring on one driver simply disintegrated. A piece of the material just inside the edge actually fell out. I wasn't listening to anything loud or bass-heavy... Anyway, my questions: what do you mean about protecting the tweeters, and where would you turn for replacement drivers, if needed?

My 2600s are considered crap compared to the greats of the 70s and 80s, but they are still pretty great speakers. Those should be even better.

You have the woofers refoamed (new surrounds) or do it yourself with a $25 kit.

I have two pair of L60T speakers. I did a refoam on one of them and it went very smoothly. I got the refoam kit off of ebay for $20 and did both speakers in about two hours.

The foam ring you mentioned is also called a surround - it is part of the speaker suspension. It also helps to keep the moving parts centered in the basket. Foam surrounds are available. Contact GordonW through a PM (private message). Gordon is a fellow AK member and is a professional speaker technician/designer. He can point you in the right direction for the replacement surrounds.

What is meant about protecting the tweeter:

• Keep the grill on so little children don't push in the titanium dome.
• Do not overdrive the speakers
• Do not use a cheap, underpowered amplifier that may go into clipping - this can overheat and destroy the voice coils

Follow these suggestions and you will have a very nice pair of JBL speakers to listen to for many years.
