Who's listening to FM Tonight? What tuner?

I use my MR78 Every morning to listen to the news, and every day after work for news and then Jazz. Pulls in a station 40 miles away, over some hills and through dense tree cover (I live in the woods) with perfect, full sound. It sounds infinity better than streaming the same station!IMG_8920.jpeg

Addendum: I haven't found a free image host portal yet, like I used to have. So for the time being, I only post 'images' with embedding a link to my monthly payed subscription YouTube channel premium account for photos, and in this case instead video's. It is not monetized. Therefore all you AK'ers who want to watch it. Don't worry: This and being my (only) YouTube channel doesn't create any direct or indirect type of revenue / income for me!
But drag and drop images will maybe work on my phone. I haven't tried that yet. Because it doesn't work anymore on my Xbox S with Edge you see.

I solved my post image problem. It still does work on my smartphone I just discovered, by drag and drop attach image on AK. So my bad. Problem solved.

So here test drag drop attach image below:

I'm jealous. I think you picked the best two Chicago stations. I lived there the first 40 years of my life. I was probably listening to Terry Hemmert in 1971.
And let's not forget WLUW (Loyola University), where my wife worked while in college during the 80s. ;)

unit has now been recapped but the tuner has not been aligned. i can not find alignment instructions for this unit. the dial is off just a touch. the muting does not work. i could do a dial calibration but i'm leaving it. i cleaned the tuning gang. i sprayed the preset tuners(yeah, 5 separate analog tuners for presets) best i could and the thing just works(noise free) and i have zero intentions of tweaking the wrong trimmer to try to get the muting to work. there's only 2 but i really don't care about muting.

from what i've read, this is from the year i was born('69) and i'm keeping it.

i'm in the basement with a dipole. this station is 60 miles away. my good tuners rarely get this station in let alone the middle of the day..let alone in stereo.

yup, sometimes it's best to just leave good enough alone.

i like it.

KBAQ Phoenix Fisher FM-100B
I switched through a few tuners at the start of the piece. The Fisher perfectly balanced the soloist and the orchestra. Nice!

Nice! I do like my MR78. What do you use for an antenna?

I have a dipole connected to about 12 feet of twin lead, taped up to the top of my 16 ft vaulted ceiling. Wife is being very tolerant about it because it works so well, but it is temporary. Eventually I am going to install a decent antenna in the attic and run twin lead down to the basement, and pop it back up for connection right behind my setup.

Onkyo T-9090, always my go-to tuner for solo piano because it is my quietest tuner.
