Listening today to a Sherwood SEL 300 tuner driving an LM 4500 MPX decoder. When the SEL 300 was released, it included a detector output jack to provide for future four-channel FM! I need to take some photos of my tuners, but here is an image from the High Fidelity magazine review. The SEL 300 is not a true digital tuner, but has a digital frequency display.

Tune: Black Eyes Peas - I Gotta Feeling

Philips 22AH105 hooked up via variable out to AUX of Philips 22AH708, after maintenance cleaning and repairs ( Except for the burned out bulbs.). Now making hours, to monitor reliability and performance of this new to me tuner!
Edit: Yesterday later in the evening, the FM started to cut out on this new to me tuner. But I was able to trouble shoot and repair the problem this morning. In short; Bad solder. I also cleaned the top cover and circuitboards and chassis inside. Switches and pots need still thorough cleaning. Bulbs need still to be replaced and the faceplate cleaned.
But this once filthy junked and trashed Philips 22AH105 tuner, is now performing already for more than nine hours, without any issues

At least on air analog fm there is currently no classic station here in Almere NL, with use of an indoor non amplified di pole wire antenna in my case. There is one on 'my' Fm band, but verry hissy, bad reception. Too far away.

A bit off topic but I use my old LG phone a lot for a handy tuner. The audio patch cord is the antenna, it pulls in pretty distant FM (only) stations crystal clear with no noise and at least some separation. Not sure how it does that in the compact device. Digital display of what the station is providing. Play it through a decent amp or receiver and it's pretty surprising.
