So far I'm really impressed with the Wiim ProPlus capabilities, especially their continuous firmware upgrade process to add / improve features at no additional cost.
The manuals are well written, and everything works. If it has long term reliability, it's easily the best stream device I've seen. Especially for Slim Devices / Logitech music server users looking for higher bitrate hardware. Have not explored analog inputs yet, but that also opens up options like multi-room play or EQ of vinyl.
I know it's a lot easier for most to just buy the Parts Express Dayton USB mic that comes with a calibration curve,
Dayton Audio iMM-6C microphone
and will likely also do that. But if you are a tinkerer, these are fun for both measurement and home recording.
Here's a better example of an almost flat mic capsule for a DIY microphone. These are available at mouser, digi-key and other places... qty 10 for under $7.
Data sheet shows it flat to almost 8k, and fairly easy to equalize after that.

I just had a small problem that reminds me about how many times I've had such problems on the last few years. I was trying to play some music on my WPP, and the Tidal app in my phone couldn't see the player. But the LMS server could see it just fine. After about 1/2 hour of screwing around trying to figure out if the problem was in the WPP, the Wiim home app, the Tidal app, etc., I discovered that my phone wanted an android update. Once I did the update, the WPP reappeared.
I love my WPP and my Squeezebox Touch, but stuff like this happens more often than it should. It seems like every time other time I want to listen to music I have to screw around to get something working properly before I can hear anything. Now I always have a little feeling of dread every time I want to listen to music. Will it work this time, or will I be chasing problems again? It's especially annoying if I have a visitor who wants to hear my wonderful stereo system. It will always fail under those circumstances.
Sometimes I use an android tablet to control the WPP, sometimes my phone, whichever is handiest at the moment. If I was last using the phone, and now want to use the tablet, I have to restart the Tidal app on the tablet to get it to take control of the WPP.
And that is why CDs are coming back...

I have 2TB of mostly lossless files on my Apple M4 Max Studio - I can stream from it now to my Wiim ProPlus.
I look at the Wiim Ultra and its so tempting with the internal display and such, but it will NOT do Apple Airplay!

I've recently encountered an issue with my WiiM Pro, where it "skips" a half second or so of a song, approximately every 2-3 minutes, using Apple Airplay via my iPhone 13Pro and my MacBook Pro over airplay. This is slightly different from a similar issue I had with it and Tidal and I've recently upgraded my wifi from a 10-11 y.o. Apple Airport Extreme to a TP-Link Decco 6e mesh router that's 6 feet from the WiiM on a separate electrical circuit, that I thought solved the problem. This has been a recent occurrence that I've noticed in the past week. Next steps are to use my MBP, hard wired via USB into my Schiit Bifrost 2/64 DAC as a control and compare that to both the WiiM and my Apple TV, both via airplay.

Given your struggles and those of the earlier poster, I guess I've been lucky. The only issue I've ever had with my WIim devices is that occasionally they are slow to find/load the music ibrary on my hard drive. But this is not common, and no big deal even when it occurs.
Can you run an Ethernet cable from the WiiM to the nearest Deco node Ethernet port, at least temporarily as a test? I have the same Deco 3-node router and it’s been quite reliable, much better than the Linksys Velop 3-node mesh the Deco replaced.
Also, does the WiFi signal level look strong in the WiiM unit? It should be at that distance. If not, and you used the same WiFi name and password for the Deco as the old AirPort Extreme, you may need to manually forget the network in the WiiM and then reestablish the network connection. I had this happen with a non-audio device. The signal was weak even though it was right next to the Deco node, I think that device was still remembering parameters from when I had the Velop router with the same network name.

Yes, this is simpler and usually more reliable.
Also, when having a lot of network problems, try unplugging the main router for 30 secs and re-powering. Occasionally wireless printers here can't be found, and re-setting the router or re-powering the printer always cures the problem. This usually re-assigns router IP addresses to devices on the network. I may have to do this once a month or less, though, not daily.
You can also try giving the Wiim device(s) a dedicated fixed IP address by setup in the router, versus being router assigned via DHCP. Wireless signals can and will dynamically change frequency if they see interference, so maybe those settings can be looked at as well.
There's a simple program I use to monitor devices on the network, Advanced IP Scanner - great to let you know what's going on...
PC based Advanced IP scanner" If you right click on a network device, then under tools, you can ping a device to see if it's alive and its time to respond.
My ethernet wired WPP and ROKU devices repeatedly respond in 1ms to pings.

I've got a new issue with my WiiM Pro: it will occasionally distort the signal significantly, similar to a tube amp motor boating, but worse. Turning it on and off makes the problem go away for a little bit, but it does eventually come back. It did this twice rule listing yesterday, then I switched over to my Apple TV. Will try it again to see if it repeats.

I had been following this thread when it was started and subsequently bought a wiim mini because of this thread. In less than 2 years, it stopped working. There are 77 pages here and I just don't have the time to read through all of them to see if someone has found a solution to the same problem I have. I have worked with wiim tech support but nothing changed. So, just in case someone here has an answer, I am posting this.
It lights up and slowly blinks white upon first plugging it in and holding the button for 3 seconds. But when I try to get spotify or my Apple iphone 11pro to find it, it never happens and then the wiim mini blinks red. No matter how many times I unplug everything or shut off and restrat my phone or log out of spotify and log back in, it's always the same. Anyone figured this out, or do I have broken hardware? Which how does that happen to something thta's just sitting on a shelf for a year and half-ish?

I cant help with your problem.
Ever product out there has a failure rate, stuff does just break. I have been repairing things as a profession since 1988, I have received plenty of brand new parts that are defective out of the box.
Hopefully someone has seen your symptoms and knows a fix.

I assume you tried a different 5V power supply? I've had a number of electronic things go flaky, but not totally die, and replacing the outboard wall wart supply fixed them.
That includes routers, TIVO devices, etc.
But also had a few Chinese made electronic things just totally died - a Bluetooth audio transceiver, small $50 DVD player, and most recently a Ninja blast smoothie blender. All less than a year old. Amazon reviews also show this same trend - looking at negative reviews for some devices, it seems like some small % die at the 6-12 month mark. Al these cost less than $50. so losing them was disappointing and confounding, but not a disaster financially.
The newer stuff is all SMD inside, so very difficult to even look for or replace obvious things like big caps that went bad. I fix a lot of things, but the root cause of all these failures was unknown. Works one day, does not the next.
Funny thing is, I own 3 Slim Devices streamers bought over 20 years ago, and they have been plugged in and used continuously all that time. All have bright displays and work fine to this day. They all have large oversized linear, well filtered power supplies. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it can't hurt.
I have 2 Wiim devices and don't use the small supplied 5V 2A power supply with either. I use larger units from Anker, and will be adding DIY Audio power supply filters to each.

What is the difference between Wiim power supplies and the Anker supplies you are using? Which specific Anker supplies?

I use the Anker Elite Dual Port 24W Wall Charger" - $15.
My view of switching power supplies is - dumbed down - bigger is better for similar rating. The stock Wiim 2A supplies may work fine, but they are tiny compared to, say, a common 2A Apple Ipad charger.
It takes more real estate to do things "right", and I'd had good luck with Anker power products so far. When I buy anything like this at Amazon now, I look for items that have a huge number of reviews, and try to find the one with the lowest % of negative 1 star ratings. Anker also makes 5V battery packs, and that could be another way to go.
I'll likely build linear supplies for the Wiim units eventually, in the mean time these Anker units work fine. Have not actually tested either one though. I do like the protection features built into this model Anker shown below.
