Woofer comparison

I'll throw one out there...Who likes the 12in Pioneer CS-88 woofer and who prefers the 12in Pioneer CS 88a woofer...?

No no...not the 99 thing

This was a question about the CS 88 series and nothing to do with the 99 series

I'm looking for thoughts comparing the 88a woofers to the 88 woofers...the 88s have wonderfull alnico mags and heavy cast aluminum frames..but not the FB cones

The 88a's have a higher wattage rating but have the stamped steel baskets...cheaper (to make) magnets and no special materials to make up the cones.....

The heart of my inquiry regards the sonic and overall perfomance differences between the two models....

I have a couple pairs of each ...as i am considering building a couple of custom speakers in very unusualy shaped cabinets..I was just wondering...which would sound better..
