So, I get the usual really not caring question from store employees, clerks or maybe neighbours I see ever so often in passing, "How're doing?"

Sometimes I reply "I'm able to sit up and take nourishment."

I did ask one young gal before paying for my groceries, "Do you really care?" And to my question, she answered back, "Not really, sir. I just have to ask this question". The people in line behind me broke out laughing. But, the gal was up front...and honest with me.

Lesson learned that day, eh?

You just gave me a good (or bad depending on POV) idea. Say "Well, I ate enough preservatives while I was alive to keep my decomposition slow....(noticing the freaked out expression)....Oh! You really I thought I was still alive? I've been dead for 10 years. Where have you been?"
