Worst Albums Ever Bought

Just a question in general. What is the worst album or albums you all ever bought. Here's a few of mine that I bought on impulse and can't stand and forgive me if some of you like these albums.

Bert Sommer - Bert Sommer (Buddah) - Trying hard singer song-writer flower child wannabe

The Carnival - The Carnival (Liberty Records) - Sounds like a knock of of Brazil 66

Super Disco Hits (Vol 3) - (Hansa Records) - Only know artists on this were Ammi Stewart, Eruption, Boney M , the rest was I guess Euro Disco people I never heard of

Skin Tight - Ohio Players (Mercury) I only thought there was one good song and that was the title track...

and a bunch of TV People trying to sing i.e. Kristy & Jimmy McNichol, Joey Travolta, Cheryl Ladd, Lynda Carter...go figure...oh and don't forget any of The Brady Bunch albums!!!! LOL

It was either last Christmas, or the year before. Elton John had a Christmas album at Starbucks. I tried to get through it three times before I gave up and just shitcanned it. It was hideous.
 
Joe Walsh- Songs for a Dying Planet (Or something along that line).

Bought it because I was a huge fan of Joes in his James Gang, Eagles, and most of his solo days.

Listened to it once, never again.

Totally depressing.

Can you count albums you were given free when buying others?

If so, then the LP of Cerrone IV: The Golden Touch would have to be the worst. It's supposed to be a major deal for disco music, but I didn't get it, I guess. Disappeared a few years back.


I bought Iron Butterfly's Inna Gadda Da Vida and HATED it. CD transfer sounded like they threw speakers on one end of a pool and a mic for the CD recorder at the other end.

The songs are worse than the mastering, though.

Sorry if that's somebody's favorite :(
 
"The Super Super Blues Band" Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. How such great performers could join and produce something this bad is beyond me.

I love finding stuff that really sucks, things like Bill Shatner or Leonard Nimoy singing. Strange things like Hammond Organ demo records, instructional discs, or bands no one has ever heard of (and for good reason). To me these sorts of things qualify as great records, and they're huge fun at parties.

The ones that I think of as worst albums are the recordings I bought for one good song, only to find the rest of the album sounds like "Lipless Larry & the Monotones Sing: Greatest Hits from the Chicago phone book".

Lets see, I have a few....

"Hocus Pocus" by Focus. The title track combines heavy metal guitar with these Swedes yodeling- really wierd.

"Surfing Safari" by the Beach Boys. I bought this when I was about 9 years old, and hadn't played it for at least 20 years, but I took it out, cleaned it, and played it a couple of weeks ago. Just gaudawful! They actually do a good version of Summertime Blues, but the rest of the record is really bad. Then again, I got over the Beach Boys when I turned 10......

"The Main Event" by Sinatra. 1975 live concert, with Frank on the cover looking like a prize fighter out on the town. And just like an aging boxer, he didn't know when to hang up the gloves. This record is notable for him singing the Jim Croce hit "Bad Bad Leroy Brown", with Frank singing "baddest cat in the whole damn town" Too cheesy for words. But I'm a big Sinatra fan, so I had to have it.
 
Charles Manson, LIE-Love & Terror Cult.

I bought it just for collectible reasons & put it away as soon as i played it once,every last song is total garbage & its been back in storage ever since.
 
Hey fotno, I'm with you on the bizarre records being fun. However yesterday was the first time I bought a record for 10 cents and thought I'd been ripped off. The album: Pac Man Fever. Man I was hoping for some cheezy synths and a healthy dose of tongue in check humor but nooooooo, it's just the absolute most boring piece of non-humorous garbage I've ever heard. It's the aural equivalent of powdered cheeze whiz.

Now I gotta find a way to get my money back.

That was the "Moving Waves" album around 1972. Yes, most of that album was questionable but it still has that late 1960's early 1970's college flavor about that was just a cool album to own back then.

My worst album?? After buying George Carlin's "Class Clown" at a yard sale for a quarter I was hooked on comedy records. A year later I came across Buddy Hackett's "I had a Ball" LP. Nothing what I expected.

One of my all-time favorites. Of course there was the review that said "They sing like woodchucks" - but I like it.

I don't know if this is the worst, but I could only get all the way through Wilco's "A Ghost is Born" once - it was resold after a few more attempts...

I have that and I love it.

Seriously, though, I was going to say the same thing, I love music that most people hate. The worse, the better. Half japanese's album "loud and horrible" is EXACTLY what it claims to be; I love it though, despite the fact it is one of the strangest and hardest to listen to albums I have.

The Rhino Golden Throats stuff is great if you too have an appreciation for the bad. Jack Webb's "try a little tenderness" is just about the most ultimately wonderfully awful song from that series.

There are two really, really awful bands, though, that even I can't deal with. The Shaggs are one. I admit I do like "my pal foot foot," but there are some songs on that one album of theirs I simply cannot make myself enjoy no matter how hard i try. Even slapping myself repeatedly and calling myself a ninny and a mama's boy does not help. Do. Not. Want.

The other is the one man band Jandek. My god, "outsider" music is one thing, some of it can be, well, waaaaay outside, out there in the boonies. but Jandek is either too lazy or insane to produce anything remotely listenable, let alone drawable on any sort of map. It's amazing how much enthusiasm his albums have produced among my more open-minded friends. But everytime they try to turn me onto him.... blech!
 
See now you've gone and done it, mentioning "My Pal Foot Foot"!?!":D Right there is an earwig if there ever was one.
 
Music From Big Pink is a great album. Ghost is at best difficult. Elton John sucks in so many ways. I have nothing original to add at this time.

I didn't actually BUY this, but someone did....:yikes:

MICKEY MOUSE DISCO! That's the worst I have ever seen.
 
One man's trash is another's treasured 13 year old's memory of hearing a song through some large speakers and a nice Marantz receiver and Thorens TT (Hocus Pocus by Focus) and of horticultural experiments in the basement (In A Gadda Da Vida)
