:rockon:sounds gorgeous

Heinz said the power supply for one channel was messed up with voltage overload

So glad to see that your B-3 is up and running. For me was one of the best purchase since I am in this hobby. The B-3 is a special sounding amplifier which combines power, finesse, and a one of a kind sound signature.

Would love to hear your furher impressions regarding the sound of the B-3, especially now when I see that you also have the C-2 preamp.

Moreover, please let me know how is the B-3 comparing with the B-2 or that special and rare Victor JM-S7 with NEC V-FETs. If you can do a comparison on the same speakers and the same preamp (Yamaha C-2) that would be great. Cheers!

Thanks for share ideas and right now switched from Elekit TU-875 preamp to the C-2 Yamaha and must say its a far better result hehe guess its no wonder anyway the C-2 needs also a service cause switches and pots need overhaul
Later i will hook up again the JM-S7 and sure will use the C-2 and same JBLs 4301B
Its alot fun to explore the best combo in my ears and keeps me abit busy
Cosmin are you still in China?
I was working there from 2005 to 2009 good time without virus hustle
Ohhhhhohhhhhhoooo setup getting better and better now
Great match B-3 + C2
Cheers:beerchug:

Yes, I am still in China, the situation has improved here, schools are opened, life is going back to normal.
Wally, I am looking also to buy a vintage preamp from Yamaha, hence my curiosity regarding the sinergy between B-3 and C-2 and your opinion.

I can buy here C-2, C-2a or CX-1 from Yamaha preamps. Of course, there are other more expensive preamps like C-2X or CX-2000 (double the price of C-2!), but if I would spend 1000 USD on a vintage preamp that would have to be a Accuphase model like C-200X, C-240 or C-200L.

I do have one interesting preamp which perhaps will make a great pair with my B-3s, Trio L07CII. Believe it or not, I had no time to test and listen to the two together... Cheers!

Aloha
This morning try this double V-Fet setup sounds not bad at all only one thing disturbe the pre C-2 needs also service can doin later first enjoy excellent sound some days
Cheers :beerchug:

Guess my next preamp is with remote control

Aloha
Hooked up several preamps in front of the amazing B-3 as there was the
1.try with Yamaha C-2 it sounds not bad at all in my ears beside The C-2 needs maintenance
2. Elekit TU-875 Philips 5963 Tubes sounds kind of muddy missing clear straight forward pressure
3.Victor P-3030 good sound bud not satisfied with soundstage and separate channels and details
4.Classe DR-5. Great matching Preamp with the B-3 sounds wonderful in my ears its all there in Front and roomfilling Soundstage
this DR-5 is abit underestimated he was sleeping with the DR-8 somewhere backside well thought its good idea to release the DR5 and bring into the game as joker
No change in the Set-up next few days later do some testing with B2 and JM-S7
Nice way killing time - stay all safe
Cheers :beatnik::beerchug:

Wally, nice to see how much fun you're having trying all of these nice sonic treats.

To my thinking 2 B-3's in BTL mode should sound very much like a single B-2 but since I have never heard a B-3 I'll wait for your review to tell me there's no comparison. ;)

Thanks for your thoughts and well since 2 days hooked up the Victor JM-S7 for a soundcheck to compare with the B-3 i heared couple of days so just few hours ago switched back to B-3 +DR5 combo
Seems the JM-S7 isnt matching so well with the Classe DR5 as the B-3 so my ears give the preference to this well matching Setup
The JM-S7 matches far better with other preamps know it from earlier listing sessions surely always use same source and speakers
Cheers :beerchug:

Nipper don't agree with the DR5
IMG_20200521_204420.jpg
gorgeous match with C-2 or even better in my ears with DR5 in front:music:have todo double-check after C-2 had service
IMG_20200529_104528.jpg

Wally, the matching matters as you say. I have noticed this first time with my other power amplifiers, Trio L-05M with NS-1000M speakers. When I used the Luxman L-5 as preamp they sounded ok, but when I had them connected with a YAMAHA CX-1000 preamp the Trio power amps sounded so good that it was difficult to turn the whole system off.
On the other side, the same Luxman L-5 makes a better pair with the B-3 than with Trio L-05M power amps.
As for the B-3s in BTL mode I am not able now to give a pertinent opinion, but in a couple of months maybe I will write here about this experience. Until then you have time to buy a second B-3.:beerchug:

Later will check to find the matching socket
and replace also the speakerterminals
Enjoy the weekend and stay safe

Wally, congratulations! Indeed a nice and rare picture to see two B-3s working in BTL mode. Please disclose more about the sound with this setting. What auction site is that one? Could you tell me how much was the transportation cost from Japan to Germany for the B-3, and what payment system they accept in Japan?

Aloha Cosmin
usually buy the Material im looking for from buyee.jp powerd by Tenso
this is a Japanese auction webpage with all the goodies
You need to register doin all the necessary steps
They accept paypal and major credit cards once you registered you can bid for item you looking for bidding is tricky cause have bidding extension couple of times
Well it works well
Shipping is now very expensive cause they dont do the Seamail shipping anymore
Its very bad only can send by Air Mail which is more then double frightrate
They offer also protection packing
Well for heavy expensive Audio gear its a must sofar my experience is ok with them
I was complain alot about they cancel the Seamail Service but didn't help
Anyways there you find what you need its related to Japanese Yahoo's auction have a try and check out urself
The other B-3 needs also service cause not playing clean sound in the tops there are bad noises but sofar after first soundcheck can say its a different story if the B-3s operate in BTL Modus
Cheers and regards from Hamburg

thanks for sharing!

I have stumbled upon this schematics of an organ from YAMAHA, and it is shown the V-FETs 2SK98/2SJ38 in the power supply. Moreover, one could observe that this was made for the Japanese market with 2SK98/2SJ38, while for the export model they used 2SK76/2SJ26 V-FETs.

Hence, my question: are these subtitute transistors if they work for this schematics?

Could they be used (2SK98/2SJ38) as replacements for the B-2 and B-3 V-FET transistors?
