My Yamaha CR-1020 just lost its am band. No static, no nothing. FM is just fine. What should I look at first.
Thanks

Check for an open loopstick, you shoud see continuity between the yellow, black and blue wires, and continuity between the red and green wires. If that is OK then I will need to look at the schematic to refresh my memory.

About as easy to find as the proverbial needle. Using a fine bladed saw cut through the black tube one inch from the end where the wires go in just enough to be able to slip the long piece off. Be careful because the ferrite rod inside is very fragile. Then you will be able to solder the broken wire(s).

If that prospect makes you nervous you can mail it to me and I will do it, I've done a half dozen already, getting to be old hat.

Bad loopstick

Thanks for the advice Rob. Looked inside the loopstrick and it is toast. All but on wire conection broken and ferrite bar broken. Anyway around the loopstick to get am reception? Can I disconnect and use the am longwire post? Any chance of another model loopstick working?
Thanks

Unless you can find one from a CR-n20 series, I have looked at other loopsticks and they all seem to have one less wire. For the cost of mailing disconnect it and send me all the parts I don't give up easy.
