Hi: This is my first post and I appreciate you letting me in on this discussion. Since you're talking about Yamaha receivers I wonder if anyone can help me.
I just purchased a CR-2020 on EBay - advertised as "everything working, etc," When it arrived it was a mess - high distortion, obviously dirty controls and the speaker protection relay kept tripping. Hoping it was just dirty controls, I partly dissassembled it, cleaned everything property and put it back together. No problem with the volume and balance now, but the only audio I get out of it is some pretty aggressive popping and distortion.
Would anyone know where I could get the schematics and service manual for this unit? I've never recapped a vintage receiver but many years ago the Air Force trained me to work on analogue circuits and I think I remember enough to figure it out as I go along (hopefully).
It's a beautiful unit and I'd like to keep it and learn a few new tricks too. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
