Your favorite "little" receiver ever?

I've owned this 70's JVC VR-5535L receiver from around 2003,nice warm mellow sounding,build quality is excellent.

I have been enjoying the Yamaha R-300 I picked up a few weeks ago. Sat on CL for a month @ 25.00 and no one was interested. I felt sorry for it and carried it home for a Jackson. Black Face, Rosewood Cabinet, Green Panel Light. Sounds awesome hooked to a pair of Pinnicle PN8+!
 
Sony STR-6055, I picked mine up from EBay years ago, replaced the burned out dial lamps, deoxed the hell out of it, and it still runs without a hitch driving my Radio Shack Nova 8's in my basement.:music:

Nothing really even comes close that I have heard. And I have heard/owned a lot of different Yammies, Marantzes, Sansuis, Pioneers, Concepts, even McIntoshes. The H/Ks sound better to me by quite a ways. I'll be a fan for life. Someday, I'd like to have all the good twins in my collection- 430, 630, 730, 930. Literally, the only budget amps that sound as good as tube gear on my huge horn set ups. Sadly, I have none now- stupid me for selling them.:no:

What do you think of the hk-450/560/670 series c. late 70s? I have an hk560 hooked up to a recently recapped (and re-badged) pair of Genesis Model I's and its making the prettiest sounds I have ever heard. :music: Leagues better than my curmudgeonny old Sansui 7070--yes, I know it probably just needs a recap.
 
I have been an audio hobbyist for well over twenty years, and my next-younger brother followed me into it. Many years ago he got a Pioneer SX-7730, which I always thought was beautiful and sounded very nice. When he passed away suddenly three and a a half years ago, I got that unit. I wouldn't sell it if you offered me the rest of the world in return for it.

Yamaha CR 600, recapped and sounds great. It's hooked to koss 1030s in the living room, plays all the kids' CDs.

My little SX-850 means the world to me. It has a wonderful sound with rich depth. I did have to couple it with a SG-9500 to bring it to it's full potential. Pioneer never seems to have enough high end for me.

Well, I have a thing for well-built, low-power solid-state receivers/amps (the tubey-sounding "transition" gear that was designed to "eeeease people into the world of solid-state"), so this is easy...

The 2000x. It's sound is like a tractor-beam of sweetness. Kind of a "have your cake and eat it too" receiver. But the other Sansui models from this period are the same way. I suspect I'll wind up with my share of the low-powered integrated amps and receivers from this period like the AU-555 and AU-555a, and I already want to get a 1000x. It's essentially a 2000x with less power. Perhaps more than any other time since, Sansui's early solid-state gear was consistently-well-built/designed and I don't think any of the early low-powered models are known for not having great sound (and what's cool is that they work very-well with the big, old speakers that usually prefer tube-amps. They really-got it right during that period. A lot of companies apparently did. Sherwood, Sony, H/K, etc...

I say, give me a pair of big ,vintage speakers that only need 20-40w to sing, and I'm fine. Power-hungry speakers need big amps, and big amps get hot, take up space, and cost a bunch of money I don't have. Keep it simple.

I had a little KLH (model 50-something, pretty obscure) that Gudstufshevy ended up with (haven't seen Art posting here in awhile...hmmm). It had DC offset problems but sounded sweet. And attractively cute with its lights and chrome!
 
Had a Marantz 2238b = 35WPC or thereabouts. Not much, but had it where it counts. It was amazing what a mere 35WPC could do back then.

This one keeps hanging around and surprising me, Realistic STA 78. Twenty two watts currently driving some Aztec Minuets in the living room. Solid sound and I like the looks too.

My favorite little receiver is an Alpine AM/FM/Cassette unit from the mid 90's that was NOS, along with a nice regulated power supply....I would tell you the model , but that would require getting up off my rear :D
