I have some bad news to report. My friend tried out my EWG setup with his JBL 4412 box and stock woofer and informed me that if JBL does not make more WG's available, he's keeping mine. He's probably going to try some other boxes as well but he's already thinking of hacking the 4412 by removing the mid/tweet and fitting in the EWG. Luckily, his 4412's are not that nice.

PE never sent the pair of D210T due to being sold out and I was planing on building these over the weekend...Plus they were $29.ea Now I guess I have to order the D220 at $45ea plus another shipping charge along with a 4 to 5 day wait. Just would have been nice to know they were not coming... Im thinking the D220 are better than the D210 and for $45ea is still the best deal?
Well, that's always a hazzard with loaning out E'Waves.
I believe the Bauhausler's musician friend has absconded with his Advents already, as well, and he'll have to make another pair for himself, now....
We kinda knew the D210ti was being discontinued, just not when.
Unless you can talk your salesperson into giving you a discount price on D220ti because of the mixup, you'll likely have to pay full bore. That's still the best option, and they're better drivers in my experience, the "standard" E'Wave.... :thmbsp:

Sounds like a run might be happening on those Ewave parts 
I ordered my WGs this week from JBL, and have 4 on the way. My PE order also arrived Thurday with the Selenium 220s and crossover parts, but I haven't even opened it yet.
I spent a little time last night and tonight fitting the LE14s into the Bozak cabs, and drilling the port holes. Things are progressing...

I'm sure this has already been covered, but with over 4000 posts i thought i might ask, will a second order 2000 hz high pass filter be acceptable for this horn, (I'm using the 220 drivers) or do i need something more fancy?

Should i use an L-Pad on the horn with this woofer or simply leave it alone?

Not to be pedantic, but the correct term is "waveguide," not horn. There may be mileage in that for you. :yes:
The answer is, "No." Use the E'Wave filter to achieve flat response, and from the 97 dB sensitivity stated in the woofer data sheet, the high-efficiency version, variant #1 here:

Did it more for an experiment and to say, I HAD DONE IT.
(Figured I got nothing to loose, worse case I refoam them)
I have another set coming, I am hoping I can get 1 pair with decent Lansaloy an
compare those to a set I'll refoam, take measurements and listening impressions.
Read a few threads over on LHF where a ("tech" I believe) described the process
of if you are going to do it, then do it right. :scratch2:
So I applied it to the back, they were not moving at all previously but completely
intact, first coat after a bit got it moving, ran woofer tester with FS of 90 or so.
Worked in a bit more got it to an FS of 70, let it sit overnight, got an FS of 47, I
applied a tad more an worked the surround, got it to an FS of 40.
Left it at that cleanded it up, let sit another day, FS stayed at about 42, I then
installed it back in the cab, threw a North Creek tweet in there so I could play it
for a while, maybe loosen up a bit more then I'll recheck the FS to see.
Yes pretty much an experiment, but if I can get 1 pair to around an FS of 30, an
the surrounds look good I'll leave 1 pair like that until I "have" to change them.

Many have said this or that about the process, well only true way for me to
find out for myself is to actually do it and see what happens, you should see
the reason for wanting to do that for ones self I would think.

I couldn't believe the difference in mine when I had them refoamed. If you think you have bass now you have no idea what you are missing.

Zilch, how old would the newest LE14A's be? Twenty years? Hard to believe there are any left that would produce bass to specs.
As a once enthusiastic DOT3 proponent I was gonna stay outa this but I can't help myself...
IME the brake fluid treatment is stable for more than 6mos, usually a year or more and it's easy and cheap. As you know, my major complaint regarding available refoam kits is that they're not really designed for the "old style" LE14As and must be installed in an "inverted" manner compared to original at least last time I looked. I found that these re-purposed refoam sets caused a physical offset of the cone towards the magnet by 2-3mm. I was concerned about this since the old LE14As don't strike me as high excursion designs and it seems like it would be advantageous to have what excursion there is at least be centered.
Well, what should I find on the virgin pair of LE14As I have destined for EWG service? The original lansaloy surrounds introduced an offset of 2-3mm, just like the refoam kits. Apparently JBL didn't consider 100% symetric excursion capabilities all that important so I guess I worried needlessly.
My newfound philosophy: The DOT 3 is fine for a temporary experiment or if one is impatient while awaiting a refoam kit to arrive. Most any other circumstance probably calls for a refoam spit-spot.

I got a pair of JBL T-80s for nothing that needed refoam. They had been used in the rear deck of a car, and the spiders had "set" at maximum inward excursion. They're actually JBL 116H-1, one of my favorite woofers, re-badged for the Car Audio market.
Shimming them forward for several months restored the voice coils to center, and after refoaming, they're playing quite nicely here, thank you....
