Not necessarily; gotta measure to be sure. They may have called the minimum impedance "nominal."

The Smaller Advent is no more a 4-Ohm speaker than the 8-Ohm large is, basically, for example.... :yes:

If you've got'em and people are useing them, post 'em on up! It'll be that much easier for t he next guy that finds a pair. Myself, I've never heard one.

Here are WT3 tests of Yamaha Woofers from NS-500, NS-500M and NS-690 II including measured Thiel - Small specs:

NS-500 woofer: JA-2508 vas 2.945 spl=91 db/1W/1M
NS-500M woofer: JA-3109 vas 3.171 spl=92 db/1W/1M
NS-690 II woofer: JA-3060 vas 2.718 spl=88 db/1W/1M

Here are the new project cabs....maybe. I am torn between doing an Ewave project or setting them up, as is, in my challenged brother's apartment. What would you do if you were going to do an Ewave project with these??? They measure 4 foot tall, 12" wide X 18" deep. If you look close you will see the contact paper crinkling on the top plate and peeling up on the buttom plate. The contact paper on the cabs is in good shape.....can you say "white Van".

I saw those cabs in Dennis' smoking lounge the other day.
I'd be tempted by the idea of a simple 3-way with a medium sized waveguide like the 8 X 8, a sensitive 8" or 10" midwoofer down to 250 hz or so, then cross over to that 15" slammer. Move the port if necessary. Decent cabinets that could work very well with some basic bracing.

Honestly, I'd dump some fiberglass in that cabinet, give them to my brother and call it a day... I don't think they are worth dumping $150 in E-Wave parts into.. I'd find a different candidate if I wanted another E-Wave. Denny, I have project boxes if you need project boxes..

The outside pics look "decent", the interior shots make them look almost unusable. that would take seriously extensive bracing to approach anything remotely acceptable.

Your basic 2-way E'Wave is not going to work with side-firing woofers, so it'll have to be 3-way, substituting the 6" square waveguide for those tweeters. Not worth it, I wouldn't think.

You might just stick the $7.99 P-Audio clearance specials in them instead, and call them "Done."

Probably the best bet, if any mods at all are made. Anything more serious deserves a much better cabinet.

Perhaps the name "DUCKINATOR" might be more appropriate around here after admitting that.. Of course, if you sniff enough glue, the thrown objects won't hurt so bad..

One wonders, how many people do you have to catch along the highways to justify the cost of a factory and all those "white vans"?
