Woofer info and "tweaking"
Don't know how many if any will find this info useful or interesting,, :scratch2:..
But I ran the 10" woofers from the ADS L880 through some impedance tests.
(I still plan on testing the smaller ones but this pair was already removed)
First is just one woofer:
I would call it a 4ohm woofer, some manufacturers may call it a 6ohm woofer,
ecspecially when stuffed into the system and a coil adding some resistance.
Second is both woofers in paralell with one another:
Definatly lower then I would want to play with.
3rd is both woofers in series with one another:
This is not a bad looking load, although the peak does increase.
4th is both woofers in series with one another and a 45ohm resistor in paralell:
This looks good, like a nice 8ohm considered load and the 45ohm resistor helps
with the peak quite a bit and overall smooths the impedance out some.
5th is both woofers in series with one another and a 45ohm resistor in paralell,
plus a zobel consisting of a 15ohm resistor and 15uf cap:
In this one you can see the effects above, plus the zobel flatening out a rising
impedance as the frequency goes up, (a typical woofer situation).
These are just to show how the impedance reacts in there different configs.:nerd:
