Zilch, I picked up a pair of beat up JBL L80t's with the 127H-1 10" woofers . They need new surrounds of course and one of the spiders has come loose from the cone, but hopefully I can fix that. Have you worked with these on any of the waveguide projects? If so are there specific crossover mods that mate them well with the wavegiudes. Should I use the 2.5ft3 cabs that they came in. any advice will be appreciated.

I used them in KLH-6, and BmWr75 in his Heath AS-10 upgrades, both shown on this site. They are kick-ass woofers.

Try E'Wave with your beat-up L80T cabs inverted. If that works, mod them, perhaps using the 8" square waveguide, then build new cabs, maybe.... :yes:

We used BMS drivers; it was an earlier gig.

We're counting on you to try E'Waving them and report your findings. In a pinch, I can revisit the KLH-6s, or whatever currently has my 127H-1 pair in them.... :thmbsp:

Oh, sorry - the fourth little driver is a single full range that not connected to the econowave. I use it full range and augmented with the 18" goldwood at times...

How do you like the Goldwood H frame? How low do you think it gets in your room? I have been amazed at the bass performance from such a low cost driver in a relatively small and simple cabinet.

There are differences in the T/S parameters. H-1 is a different driver.

Use in matched pairs....

Cool. When people come to my house they give me a funny look when they see the speakers, they don't expect much bass but are usually very surprised. Getting that low from something so simple and relatively compact still amazes me, I got lucky when I stumbled on that design.

Thx for the info. Looks like our low sens. ewave crossover, but a little lower.

Is the 127H worth a look for ewave? I don't want to go to the trouble of re-foaming them if they're not good performers. What cabinet (sealed and ported) are they appropriate for?

If you look at the T/S parameters, you will see that they are well-suited to closed-box alignments in AR2x and Large Advent size boxes.

JBL never used them that way, rather, in under-damped vented "West Coast" designs, taking advantage of their high-Q, low Fs toward a different objective.

You may be surprised by what they can do....

Has a E/W horn loaded mid/woofer been discussed before? Thread search horn+loaded+woofer didn't reveal anything. Idea came from Pi speakers Pi8 two-way design http://www.pispeakers.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/3/products_id/112.
Take the CD thang a step further? Just an idea.

That does look like an interesting design. It could probably expand on the econo theme by using a more inexpensive woofer hopefully.

Looking for dual woofer design

I have much to learn and I am seeking guidence. I am starting a new e/w project and I want to try some surplus woofers I got a while back from American Science and Surplus. I plan on using 2 woofers in series for each speaker. Given the provenance of these drivers, I doubt they're very good – I think they were sourced from Eminence for Rock-o-la.

Here are the specs:
10" Woofer
4 Ohm, DC resistance is 3.6 Ohms
Fs = 55.3 HZ
QMS = 5.883
Vas = 1.188 cu. ft.
Cms = 0.031 in./lb.
Qts = 1.210
Sensitivity = 93.5 db (1W/1M)
Power Handling= 100 Watt
Response = 37HZ - 5674 HZ

These drivers measure pretty peaky around 3.5kHz, I hope the standard crossover design will minimize that, but I don’t know what to expect.

How does one calculate dimensions for a vented box with dual woofers? One online calculator I found (kbapps.com) said I needed a pretty big cabinet (48”x76”x 30”). I am hope I goofed something there.

I ordered all the standard crossover parts and the d220Ti and Pyle Pro PH612 horns from PE. If this ends badly, I’ll order good 15” woofers and build a more conventional cabinet.

Edited: I gave up on a vented cabinet. The high Qts means I need to consider an infinite baffle for the woofers. yikes.
