Still listening to the Ewaved DQ-10s with DE250/QSC and refoamed Advent woofers. So far no angry mobs have laid siege to the house for my disrespect of The World's One Perfect Speaker. This sounds outstanding. I may actually resist the people who keep asking 'What are you going to do with those when you're done?" These could be real keepers, although I always say that. I'm using the stock ewave XO and holding off on final XO fabrication until the brains have sussed out the details.
I haven't touched a speaker project in 10 days. I'm still buried in the chip amp project article with 4 days to go until deadline. So much metal to cut, so little time. I Ncase anyone wonders why I don't answer the phone, I assembled a PCB the size of a business card with 30 components, 75 solder joints, 12 jumpers and one serious mistake that made it explode. All because I took a call at the bench and got a polarity wrong. Blew 6 hours' work. So I'll be scarce until Tuesday.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have built a set of ewave crossovers per the design on the first page. I built them for the lower efficiency woofers thus I used the .75mh and th 24uf cap. One crossover works perfectly, the other does not pass any highs. :tears::headscrat
I have checked and double checked the drivers, I have replaced hook up wire, I have bypassed the high frequency section and it works. Whe I connect right after the small cap(4.7uf IIRC) and hook to the ouput - nothing!
I am probably not making any sense, but if you have any ideas, please share them.
BTW - I checked and double checked, both crossovers are wired identically. It has to be a bad component, but which one?

Sounds like an open 4.7uF cap
Traded L-pads from xover to the other - response was the same on both speakers - not the l-pad.
Checked jumpers and connections - all fine.
Took an ohm metter reading acroos both of L1 - both read .4 ohms.
I think it must be C1 is open. I'll isolate it and put it on my meter and see what it says.

Time to call PE.
Trace the circuit with the working board to check. So, I mean, go through 1 by one, with the boards side-by-side, and make sure the bad matches the good. When it doesn't.... bingo!
File that under "$#!^ happens".
Had the same thing happen to me, a few times, on amp rebuilds and other stuff...

I get the feeling I might be fighting a losing battle here with the Mac and speaker software...
Maybe I should be checking the thrift stores for a cheap PC instead of loading up on vintage gear?

I was trying to do all my audio measurement on Linux (using and working with Linux for a long time) but was spending a lot of time trying to get various alpha/beta grade software packages working.. without knowing if they were even giving me reasonable measurements
But the range of free speaker measurement type packages available on windows won out.. companies are junking adequate (for this) PCs and laptops all the time (often with the sticker showing a legit XP license even).. so I've got an old junky laptop for speaker workshop, arta, winisd, etc..

I have the system in "rough draft" status now. It is operational and sounds extremely good. I am going toi do a few more tweeks to the cabinet and see what happens. At that point I'll determine if I need to get these woofers reconed.
Question - I am currently running my Ewave set up with the selenium d210ti driver and the hm-25 horn( I already had a set). I have the pyle horn recomended on order. Will there be an improvement with the pyle horn? I think it sound very good now, I just as soon cancel that horn if mine is a close equivalent.

Yeah...
one of my all-time favorite salvage yards, Boeing Surplus, closed it's doors not long ago. They had PILES of PC's for dirt cheap, most of fairly recent vintage. I figure the PC will probably be less expensive than some of the other equipment I will need to start measuring/designing.

Just ask around. More than a few folks have a functional windows box that they will give to someone that will use it. Of course you will have to suffer the indignity of admitting that an obsolete PC is better than your Mac
