It is FREE software, from FRD Consortium.
Specifically, SPL Trace allows a graphical way to convert a screen capture into a calibrated file that can be used in programs like Jeff Bagby's Passive Crossover Designer.

I'll have a look, figure out as much as I can, then I'll likely have a load of "can you dumb this down" questions for you. I think Bagbys software requires excell spread sheets of whatever, I'm probably the last man on earth that has never used one. I think I will have to get that software, dont think I've got it in my computer.

Hello, I'm a newcomer to this forum, and this is my first post.
I haven't read more than a few pages of this thread, but wanted to tip my virtual hat to Zilch for "discovering" that waveguide and recognizing its potential. I found it over a year later through another avenue (cruising the Parts Express website), and it "looked" promising to me for a project I was working on at the time. Measurements confirmed it was even better than I had hoped - not perfect, but then I didn't expect perfection. Out of that initial project several others have grown.
I've recently been accused of "innovation", but here you guys have been doing this for two years, thanks to Zilch.

Your friend Wayne has helped us out quite a bit here over the years, and we are ever grateful for Earl measuring the waveguides for us at the outset of this project, demonstrating them to be "worthy" despite his scathing critique.
We'd be interested to know what drivers you've tested with them, if you're willing to disclose some of your own work with these.... :yes:

The compression driver I'm using is the Celestion CDX1-1731 and the woofer is the Eminence Kappalite 3012LF.
I had a hard time correlating the measured with the perceived in this case, and the work-around I found will have to remain proprietary. But let's just say it was an interesting and challenging project.

Why yes, it's a function of SPL Trace. Both ZMA and FRD files.

Jeff's software IS excel spreadsheets. The best version to use is Excel 2003. It's the fastest implementation. 2007 doesn't handle his VB code as well. PCD still works in 2007, but is just a tad slower than the 2003 version.

OK. Here we go, this is where for the millionth time (at least) I demonstrate the full depth of my ignorance on the world wide web. (yeah, I could do this by PM, but where's the fun if everyone doesnt get in on it?) How does one aquire the 2003 version? (PMs welcome) I'm googling now.... Just answered my own question. Found it for around 24 bucks, another site says "free" hm-m-m-m. Got to run over to court, then I'll try down loading this bad bear.

Ditto that. Free software often comes with free malware and that's a headache you don't want.

I found it for around 25 bucks, plenty cheap enough not to mess with any malware.
