Yes, I believe I perceived that.
What I'm thinking is mount a modern 15" in there that'll play up to 1.5 kHz with the waveguide coaxially in front of it, forward as much as flush front. You're gonna have to measure how much depth there would be available for that....
I think you should go all out.
Maybe even just put a small touch screen in it for a computer interface.

you hit upon something i've been kind of thinking about while wool gathering... but i was afraid of getting so far ahead of myself that i wouldn't actually complete the project... :sigh: i'm planning on putting an airport express in there so that i can stream to it... however, i really like the idea of a screen, and it could be done in a VERY cool manner...
the record changing mech works by the turntable itself moving up and down to select which record it wants (i'd say there's maybe 6-8 inches of movement there)... it probably would not be difficult (famous last words there) to cannibalize the part of the assembly that makes that work, and make it raise and lower a small screen... could even take it the next step, and make the top dome rise with a small gear/motor assembly...
now THAT would be r2d2 like...
btw, if i should take the discussion about the juke itself to another thread, someone please tell me... being new here, i'm not sure what your protocol is...

ok, cool... my picture taking abilities aren't always the best, so i wanted to make sure that was visible from them...
that sounds like an intriguing option... i'll do some detailed measurements and post them... if close up pics would help, i have no shortage...
just to throw something out there, following up on your thought about mounting a 15 right on the door (i'm assuming that this would end up being an infinite baffle, rather than a box? or am i off base there? or am i even using the "right" terms?)... depending on the size of the waveguide, it might be possible to cut another hole in the inner skin to mount it on...

Also it is a complete design and parts list from Parts Express. That would allow you to focus on the restoration and not go bananas trying to learn crossover design and modeling. Then again, I'm beginning to suspect that taking the easy way out just isn't your style :thmbsp:That is going to be a really cool project when you are done. You've got to add a projector somewhere so it can throw a video on the wall.

when it comes to learning about crossover design and modeling though, that's why i'm here... it's you guys job to figure out all the hard parts for me... if i actually had to learn how to do that, i'd probably just throw a powered monitor in there and call it a day...
so i'm definitely taking the easy way out there... if i actually had to learn everything that you guys discuss in this thread in order to do this, they'd be using the juke as an urn for my ashes rather than me using it as an ipod dock...

a projector wouldn't be difficult, actually... the fact that the dome raises opens up a world of possibilities...
this has worked out well... i came here for an easy speaker solution... which was cheerfully and promptly provided (under budget, no less)... what i didn't realize was that i'd get all these ideas to create franken-juke...

another piece of potentially helpful info i thought of while applying liquid wrench...
i have a pioneer a35r integrated amp sitting around doing nothing that would be perfect for this in terms of coordinating/controlling the electronics... an honest 40wpc at 8ohms...
adequate? it would save me from having to make a whole bunch of circuits... soldering is not my strong suit...

I think it would be to your benefit to start your own thread as others will be doing their ewave thing. So it will be easier for you to find your answers that way.

Zilch, overall what would say are the benefits or strengths of this design?
Increased low end or high end? I have about $350 to spend per speaker but if there are obvious benefits of this design I would probably stretch it out.
HO has higher efficiency, but does not reach as low. Dennis H (Catapult) just pointed out that in very small alignments, that efficiency is consumed in the course of having HO play the same as LF at 80 Hz, typical crossover in HT applications.
Hang tight a bit. I just loaded Deltalite 2512 last night, a $50-less-per-woofer option, and a preliminary listen says it plays very much like 3012LF. I'll be submitting the measurements for crossover design in that PCD challenge thread over on Tech Talk yet today, most likely. If that works out, you'll be on budget with similar performance.... :thmbsp:

That sounds great. I am planning on building a THT for the low end (or two if I get adventurous) so I don't need a lot of low end. I also have three Behringer A500's for the front three so I don't really need anything super efficient as I have plenty of power on tap.
Ben considering swapping the Behringers out with an Emotiva UPA-7 or XPA-5.
What time table do you think for the new build to be completed?

I have been working on an Econo-Wave Speaker Project for a few months (in between having a baby and working 3 jobs). Here are a few pics of the final project. The cabinets are a bit rough but will be refinished at some point.

Below your post thread window is a button that says "Manage Attachments"
Click that then locate on your computer.
Note: They need to be of smaller size. use editing software (MS Paint) to "resize"
