All-
I have picked up Harman Kardon 900+ Quadraphonic Receiver. I know, I know. But I was able to negotiate a fair price and I couldn't resist. There are a couple features about it that I really like:
Quadraphonic / Stereo switch. In the stereo mode, this bridges the amplifiers and give me...
Noticed subpar FF / RW performance of the deck.
Took apart the tape mech and this is how idler tires looks like, is this salvageable or I have to order new ones?
If I have to order new ones what are dimension I have to look for? Or course I can remove then and measure, but I prefer not to tear...
The second era of solid state receivers from Harman Kardon were (what I call) the Nocturne series.
This thread is a guide to those models, their specs, and pointers to schematics and restoration threads for each. If you have additional information on any of these models, send me a private...

Hi Guys,
I need a bit of help with my PM655 Vxi unit. I bought it completly dead and I'm trying to fix it, but I've hit the brick wall and can't figure it out. The amp fries resistors R474 and R476, as well as Q430.
So far, I've replaced (as they were confirmed dead) the following, see the...
Grabbed a well-loved HK 430 Twin recently. It sounds perfect when I hook up a device to tape monitor function, but when I try phono or aux I get silence from the left channel. Same results with headphones. The Mono button, when pushed, silences the sound entirely. I de-ox'ed everything...
Hi,
I wondered what typical subs should be used in place of those old transistors with roten legs of the same family as the well known 2SC458 (well known for causing problems).
Phono section:
Q701, Q702: 2SC1775(F)
Q703, Q704: 2SA872(E)
Q706, Q707: 2SC1775(F)
Eq sections:

I recently picked up a Harman Kardon HK3500 on CL listed as non-working. I was told it was playing music fine, then shut off with a little bit of smoke. I opened it up and found a blown fuse, a shorted output transistor and a resistor burned beyond recognition.
Here's what I've done so far...

Hi.
I have this HK AVR 1710 receiver in stand by amber light not powering up. Very dirty and some corrosion. Washed it with soap, toothbrush, and rinsed with Isopropyl. Dried in reflow oven at 105 C for 30 minutes.
At this point, power button didnt work, but reset could be done with surr mode...
Edit: FIXED, see post #9. Was colder solder joints on the volume pot! o_O
Here we go, another of my restoration projects, which usually involves 95% me beating my head against the wall and 5% actual progress. WOO :whip:
THIS one is a Harman Kardon hk570i. I searched a bunch and didn't find...
Hello All,
I am going to come into possession of a Harman-Kardon "Award Series" FA-3000X stereo tuner amplifier soon. I have some questions regarding this component, and I would really appreciate it if somebody could answer them for me. The first question is: How many watts per channel was the...
Hi,
Recently acquired this receiver.
I can't seem to figure out why the dial scale on this 930 won't light up, despite the fact that all the bulbs are testing ok.
It takes qty. of 7, 6.3v 250ma fuse-type bulbs, all testing fine. Anyone know this unit really well and/or had this problem...
Dial lamp: Replaced 15V 100mA side dial light (frosted lamp with green cover) with 12V 60 mA red coated lamp.
Tuning needle: Replaced 12V 60 mA grain of wheat with green cover with 12V 60 mA green coated lamp.
This is the system I used with my computer during Summer 2004. It has since been changed around, but I have no pic of the current setup.
