Hi!
Im new here, need some help with an SA 706 (SA 7700)
This European version is on 240 V (or 220V)
The protection relay doesn,t engage, and when I measure pin 1 its only 5,3 V...
So I suspect something in the 13 V regulator, or before that.
The output from trafo is 68,7 VAC (TP 12 - TP 13) or...
I have fully recapped this unit and installed a Delta9 Electronics populated power supply.
All is good except when powering the unit on.
I am seeing power meters jump up to the 0.1 watt area once the protection relay clicks and then the meters settle back to zero.
I also notice the protect relay...
An SX980 that I’m restoring has a problem with the protection board where the relay does not energize. I believe the problem is with the PA3004 IC so went ahead and replaced the it with the ‘substitute PCB’ designed by merlynski and alexhastings (see PA3004 chip PCB substitute). A big thanks to...
First post here so thanks in advance.
I am a tube amp tech and have recently started learning some new things with my Pioneer SX-780. So I am have an issue that I so far cannot seem to find the problem. I bought a restore kit and have done all the work so far, still no love. I sure would...
Here is a link to an open source replacement pcb for the Pioneer PA3004 Protection SIP. It is available with Gerbers, Eagle files and BOMs for both SMD and Through hole versions. This is collaborative project by AK members.

After discovering a failed PA3004 chip on my SA-7700 rebuild, and paying $35 for a single replacement, I asked @merlynski to help me design a PCB substitute, so we can all keep rehabbing these old units without paying exorbitant prices for new "old stock" chips.
Our design goal was to replicate...
First post ever on AudioKarma so be easy on me. :)
There is one issue I can't figure out on a beautiful SX-1080 I'm working on. There is no speaker muting delay when you first turn on the unit leading to a nice pop and some impressive speaker cone movement. You can hear the two relays...
The Pioneer SIP PA3004 protection IC is used in many of their products across all levels of build. My question is what voltage (or current) is needed on pin 4 to trigger the relay output pin 3 to go low and turn off the relay transistor. This questions assumes that all the other inputs are at...
