2010-11 College Basketball

Yep Kansas got a win in a tough gym away from home tonight. Now they'll probably beat K State by 20 or more Saturday, and be back on track

Oh my 'Cuse. :(

Seton Hall? Really?

This is not looking good at all. I don't think I've seen a worse effort by a team in a long time. Start to finish, just a horrible performance.

Can't argue with that. This one was embarassingly, unexplainably ugly. All fundamentals went out the window after SH started hitting EVERYTHING (70% on 3 pointers!). JB's zone couldn't handle that. The three game road trip coming up (Marquette, UKemba and S.Fla) will be a real test.

I'm STILL waiting for someone at Maryland to step-up, and give them a reliable outside shooter!?
Poor Williams in the paint, is getting double-teamed every game now.
I can imagine Coach Gary Williams blood pressure level now, as it's starting to look like Maryland will NOT get an NCAA tournament at-large invite?

The Hokies sure administered a nasty whipping on the Terps last week. Ugly.

4th ranked Sn Diego State visits 9th ranked BYU tonight at 10 EST, on CBS College Sports Network. Looking forward to seeing both these teams for the first time this season

Louisville edges UConn in Storrs, too, gonna be a good day in college hoops, Can't wait for Missouri-Texas tonight. Kansas will probably flatten K State, at least they should, given the decline of Frank Martins team

Marquette, always tough at home, gets their first win ever against Syracuse in Big East play. Syracuse loses their fourth straight game after winning their first 18 this year, wow

Tonight we find out how much backbone my young Mizzou team has. It promises to be a fun one to watch. 8pm central on ESPNU for those interested.

And my daughter was in attendance. She was quite stoked at the victory.

Well, the Mizzou/ Texas matchup played out as I feared. The fastest 40 minutes of basketball (formerly known as 40 minutes of hell) did not produce the fastbreak points from turnovers that has been one of the reasons for Mizzou's success. This type of defense does not seem to fair well against teams with strong guard play. Not to mention the fact that Texas came out shooting the ball very well and Mizzou couldn't find the hole in the basket. We won't even talk about being out rebounded, Texas seemed like they wanted it more. Mizzou did not come out with the same intensity as Texas and by the time they woke up and got going, they found themselves in a deficit they couldn't overcome.

Texas and Missouri seem to me to be teams who share a lot of the same philosophy. With a lot of their offense coming from a tenacious defense. A fun style of basketball to watch. Congrats to any Texas fans here.
