21st century Turntable?

It is an interesting turntable. But being locked into that cartridge makes it a non starter for me. It seems more like a lifestyle component for a causal or trendy vinyl listener than a serious vinyl-phile. Neat concept though, its visually appealing in a minimalist way. I would be afraid someone would put bowls of guacamole and chips on it at a party though.

Interesting concept--wouldn't buy one as I never jumped on the LT bandwagon (not going to get into that debate here). I will call BS on the "proprietary" AT95e cart--unless they did something really "special", that is a user-replaceable/upgradeable stylus. Not hatin', just sayin'...

Looks like the stylus is user replaceable.

Please note: The Modified AT95E cartridge is adjusted for each Wheel and can't be user replaced. The stylus is user replaceable. Replacement styli will be available from the moment Wheel ships.

The only aspect that impressed me was that it is 'made in Holland'. But again, being stuck with only one cartridge kills it for us audiophools.

Yeah I hear you--I may have mis-interpreted the marketing BS that you quoted, as it kind of "implies" that you have to buy the new styli from them. If the cart is not heavily "modded", any source of an AT replacement/upgraded stylus should work.

For most audiophiles, the lack of a changeable cartridge would be a deal breaker, but so is the lack of a changeable shell, changeable arm, changeable mat (if needed), clamp/weight, etc. This is clearly not intended for serious tweakers, but it looks as though it promises some credible performance. The included AT95 shouldn't be too disparaged as it's a pretty decent cartridge with specs that belie it's low price tag. It looks to have been given the audiophile mod/treatment as well, which should step up the performance further if the LT fitment doesn't let it down.

As a bonus, Clearaudio MM owners might now have a line on reasonably priced drop-in replacement needles.

Well, if it were me, I might be tempted to transplant. Not that the AT95E isn't a good cartridge, but the 440 can be transplanted into it and maybe even the 150 though I haven't tried that one.

But if I were to get this table it would be as a novelty for parties and such. I like to see the side I'm playing and when I was a kid I learned to read the label as it spun.

I use an AT-95 with an LC stylus (abt $100) on my Mitsubishi LT-640 and it is only very slightly inferior to The Signet TK3ea with an ATN-140LC that I use on my LT-22 (which I like better than my Ortofon OM-40 VdH.) Yes, I know that's heresy. The LC stylus improves the AT95 a LOT.
