80's or 90's technics amps

i dont have a lot of experience with audio but i think technics is very underrated equipment.

I'll start with the obvious:

Technics still flies under the wire value-wise due to the budget systems that flooded the market. All I can say is that the guy I bought my Yamaha B-2 from was using a SE-9060 as his backup amp.

well i am watcing a Technics SU-Z980 and a g-90 at the moment,.i already have a sa6800x quad but the sound is going(it gets fuzzy sometimes on the right channel).i am using a pioneer A-8 but it is not sounding as good as my technics did,,so i am in the market for another techie

yea but chances of running into a v-9 or A-5000 are pretty nill,there is a v8 on the bay for 299 but i think that is kinda much,,

Yep. The V8 is a good amp but $300 is too much in any market.

I use the SU-G90 and I think it's the best sounding amp I have (vs. Kenwood KA-3500 and JVC A-X3). Of course, it has more than double the power (130 watts) so maybe it's just the extra headroom.

They're the same amp (V98 & Z980) running SVI3205 iirc the new class A logo was the only difference

SU-V4X V6X V7X V8X V10X (1984-6) are all good amps.

ok i might go with the v98 then ,,boy hi-fi engine has some good info,saw some sony stuff but i think technics might be a better build gonna stay loyal to the tech. so is that sv13205 iirc a good chip to have in the technics.

As long as you don't push it too loud with inefficient speakers, the SVI will do fine. If you kill it, they cost more to repair than the regular bipolar transistor version. A good clearance on top of the amp is really important for thermal disputation. No less than 6 inch.

yea that is no problem it will be under a ac duct in the summer and there is a window with a cold draft for the winter.class a stuff runs hot from my reading and understanding.oh can some tell me what is class H? i saw that on a tecchy cnat remember model or is it just a gimmicke new class A and class AA

New Class AA is not Class A and SVIs don't run hot in normal operation, only when pushed hard by the speakers and the owner.

Its a 5$-15$ s/h cheap'n'chearful receiver.

Class A amps are quite expensive. True Class A even more.
