80's or 90's technics amps

yea the 3 way's in the picture are the harvards. i played them yesterday and they sounded beuatiful on the pioneer a-8 so i am sure they will shine on the v8x .

my original intentions are to put together a 2 sub system with some really efficient mid-hi frequency bookshelves,,whatever the case it will be a wile ,but i have enough others to play with.

The harvards will be great with the V8X, in the meantime till you find other speakers

yea i got it tuesday. i have been listening for 2 days making sure it is ok. gonna do some pictures later,boy is it a beast.it fills the house with music at 2 on volulume dail or at 9 0clock position. the guy shipped it parcel post so i was not happy i would have got it monday but the post office saw inside box that he used priority boxes for packing material and i had to pay a extra 43 dollar ,which he reimbursed but the almost returned it to sender. ,but i have it and they will have to pry it from my cold dead hands.it is real nice the sound is awesome .had a problem at first,,no sound but i figured out that the equaliser ports on back are like a pre amp power amp circuit so i used some rca cables to jump it and it works perfect t,the guy had a eg running with it .i might get one(do you recommend one will it improve my sound or do i just need to get some jumper pins to close the connection? gotta go right now i will add more later .

Noticed the shorting pins were missing on the eq/preamp out were missing in your pictures. Find some jumper pins. I dont have any EQ, but i had some in the past ( not a good branded ones, they boost the sound).

I love your V8X photos :grnbounce , really looks awesome in silver.

ok whew what is the verdict, i do need some more speakers though.the harvards and little bookshelves sound good but they are limited. the big harvards start distorting about 11 o'clock.that is way too loud for me though but i would like to have something that can take this animal.i have some old sound reinforcement cabinets has a 10" space and a horn space,but i can go 12" and add a spot for a good tweet and put in a decent horn with good crossover..i will build on jbl or cerwin vega models.specs.

I am impressed the harvards can go to 11 0'clock. I keep my V8X around volume 2. As long as the specs and the woofer are suited to the box, it could be an option, or wait till some speakers show up on craigslist etc

yea the 11 o'clock on the harvards was just so i could get a reference i play at around 9'oclock.that is plenty loud.compared to same volume for my pioneer was 11 or 12 o'clock and it was rated at 90 watts,that is how i know this v8x has immediate power.

will the rca cables be ok untill i get some jumper pins to close those ports with?

The Harvards will be great till you find more speakers. 9 o'clock is where I play my V8X also, plenty of volume there. I think Technics were conservative with their power ratings also. The RCAs will be fine till you find some jumper pins.

I know this is an old topic, sorry for resurrecting it, but i found it helpful. I'm an old loyal (and former) Technics owner and loved the several units I've owned back in the 80s/90s. I haven't owned a dedicated system in over 20 years. This thread was a good stepping on point for me to rediscover Technics. It was the first unit I bought as a teen. I still have my old Technics branded cabinet that my very first unit came in which I'm going to clean up and use for the new system.

I been a Technics fan for years.. Started out in 2000 with a SA-AX6 that I used for years.

..luved it till it started getting stressed out..and having heating issues. Then after shopping for amps on-line I came across this beauty from 96. Technics SA-TX50
