Acurus A250 and starground

Speaking of rail voltage, how does one go about setting it? I'm only measuring 50v rails on my Aragons, should be 70v rails.

I've never seen an Aragon closeup yet (only listened to a couple of them).. Maby @mondialfan can help?

My guess is that it's by selector at the back, or internal jumpers?? But I really don't know

Best regards

On second thought: are you sure your DMM is measuring correctly? Even by adjusting the voltage selector, as low as 50VDC shouldn't be able to achieve??

The current thread is about the Acurus amps. It would be best to start a new thread on this subject here in the DIY section. Then other owners of Aragon amps will be able to find it in the future. I'll try to answer any questions if you start a thread.

Latest project. Before/after pictures.... Fixed the flickering switch also ;)

Will Toshiba TTA1943/TTC5200 also work as replacement powertransistors over the original Toshiba 1302/3281?

Best regards

I wouldn't use them. On Semi has their own replacement for the Toshiba parts. On Semi MJL1302/MJL3281
Thanks for reply. I see the TTA/TTC is rated at 150w pr unit, over 200w with the MJL....
I'd been recommended trying the TT-series, but it didn't feel right.

Best regards

Also we discussed the feedback/zobel-network, where everyone agreed that these positions should be in top condition. One suggested that the Zobel often fail due to AM-noise? I've only seen the Zobel fail due to oscillation or +/- speaker cable has been shorted.

I have been using the Acurus mainly as a stand for other amps over the years, but when I used it recently for the first time in five years it worked great.

A lot of value for the price in this power amp.

It is a lot of value for quite small money, at least here in Denmark, where pricetags are almost half the pricing that "flows" on the internet from US market...
Anyway, I see more and more people return to these units as "a good deal"..… as a fan, I'm quite pleased :)

Am still working on the above for my living room, and almost finished the main boards. Still need to a design softstart and speakerprotection circuit.
I used KSA992/KSC1845 as diff-pair, thermally coupled, but came across the THAT 340 once again on the internet.... I've been looking at this ever since mentioned here in the past.. And this could be fun to try.
What is the lose if selecting a lower Hfe device like THAT 340 over the TO-92 devices mentioned?

-Regarding the PCB-image shown, I need to turn the two transistors right beneath the "Amodded" signature 90degrees... After adding a footprint for a suitable (overkilled?!) heatsink, Wakefield-Vette 637-15ABPE (also pictured) or the smaler 637-10ABPE , the front copperlayer became to uneven for my liking to make the needed connections. And that's about it, if I'll stick to the TO-92's as differentiel :)

Best regards
