ADS models, an impromptu rollcall

I'm interested! The L1530s with amps and crossover were $4390. I'm pretty sure they would win the grand prize, but I've never heard the 1590s. I just think the weird design of the L series launches a wavefront like no other. Can we do this at my place? If you can't rattle your plates in the next room with my sig you're not in the competition.

I somehow hit "send" before I was finished. Sorry about that.

I'll load up my 4Runner with the toys and drive to a mutually chosen location within 250 miles from here. I'll set mine up with what ever else anyone can carry in, set up a listening room in someone's house or garage, and start comparing!!

Price of admission-A pair of ADS speakers for demoing and a minimum of one six pack of beer. I can buy a big speaker switch on ebay and sell it off again on ebay when we are done.

I can bring a yamaha C-80 and a P2200 to drive the show. I would prefer that someone else provide the TT's,CD's,etc.

This would have to be a two day event.
One day to set it up and crank it up.
One day to do some real listening and testing.

I will offer an open garage bay (carpeted) in Leesburg unless somene else has better facilities to offer. I'll have to get the 'junk out of the trunk" but at least this would give me the motiviation to get it cleaned up and cleaned out.

garage-24' X 14' with a 12' ceiling (approximate)

P.S. BYOC (chair) You will want to be comfortable. Folding chairs available on request.

Grand Prize???? Left over beer. I'll bet it will be a small prize!

Is anyone interested?

That might be worth a flight across the big rock! An east coast sound A/D/S shoot out! Wonder what it would cost to ship my (2) L1090/1 and (2) SW2 subs? Great combo by the way...

Depends on:
Your budget
Your room
Your wife.

If I was shooting for one pair to keep no matter how big a space or how small a space I had it would be a pair of L-880's.

Second choice - a pair of 1090's

3rd choice- a air of L400's with a good sub

Where are you Audiomagnate?

What do you mean by wierd design? Have you looked at the shape of your 1530's????

ADS fixed the 1530's when the released the 1590's!!!!!!!

Are you challenging me to a duel???

Or is it Dual??????

And my amp is heavier than your amp!

Every once in awhile I listen to music on the L-1530. Today was one of those days listening to xylophone music.

Perhaps this thread is a better place for this question:

Does anyone have any insight into how the A/D/S CM-7 speakers sound, what their sonic characteristics are, and their quality?

I have an opportunity to purchase a pair for under $200 and was wondering. Also interested in how they compare to other bookshelf speakers from the likes of B&W, Paradigm, Boston Acoustics, etc. I have a pair of Paradigm 3se mkIII's that I'm kind of getting tired of...they sound so congested and distorted at moderately high volumes.

Oh yeah, 1590 vs 1530 now we're talkin'! "Fixed"? Really? I just think they reduced manufacturing costs by a huge chunk and made them more marketable. I'm saying the shape of the 1530s IS weird, but for a reason. 1590s on the other hand remind me of, how shall I say this nicely? Well the speakers often marketed from ivory colored small trucks.

Sorry guys, I keep forgetting that L1090 scan at sportsbil is missing the back page which is where the specs were (I have them for the L690 and L1290 and they both have specs that way).

Seems like I ran into this before and found the missing page somewhere else. I'll try and dig that up again.

Yeah when I had that file posted it was missing that page. I've since sold my 1090's and haven't been looking for it. If someone has it let me know and I'll get it posted.

Need some advice. There's a local pair of 1290/2s for sale, and was wondering if it would be worth a look since I already have a pair of 1090s. Is it a noticeable upgrade going from L1090's to 1290s? Thanks!
