ADVENT 6003 speaker crossover

I have a pair of Advent 6003 3-way speakers figured I would post a picture of the crossover for your viewing pleasure. The Capacitors are 40.0 UF, 12.0 UF, 8.0 UF and a 3.0 UF.

Thanks for the peek inside. Nice images -- good enough to trace out a schematic.

The only uncertainty is value of the resistor connected to the 40µF cap in the woofer circuit. Looks like 5Ω or maybe 6Ω?

Schematic can be updated if you can verify its value.

Interesting that the tweeter has a black wire from + input side and yellow wire from – input. Suggests that it's connected inverse phase to mid and woofer.

Those NPEs are nearly 40 years old. Are you recapping?

Yes I did a recap using MPT (Taiwan) all film capacitors. The Advent's 6003 sound much better than they did with the 35-year-old electrolytics.

What a difference! I was entertaining doubts that a film replacement set could be made to fit -- especially 40µF for the woofer. But the mission was obviously a success. Kudos!

Anyone out there know if the Advent Maestro (which I believe uses the same woofer, midrange, and tweeter as the 6003?) uses the exact same crossover network as the 6003?

Hey Ty67.. I have a pair of these Advents.. I'm considering recapping.. was a night and day improvement? Are the caps you used any good? they seem economical enough.. would you think it would be worth spending a few extra buck on something like clarity caps? Thanks!
