Any cat lovers here?

I had a friend that worked at an animal shelter in PA back in the 1970s. They would euthanize the dogs & cats after a period of time if they weren't adopted. He showed me this big freezer where the dead critters were stacked like cordwood inside it. I asked him what they did with them he said the farmers would grind them up and use them for fertilizer.

So they were put to a good use I guess.

I think my only option might be to adopt a mean dog to scare all the cats away. Maybe he can also take care of the racoons, river otters, and herons too.

I don't mind one or two cats. I actually like cats, but not an entire colony of them breeding like rabbits stinking the place up.

"Fix" them now, and you will have three.

Don't fix them.....and you will have 3xN, where N is the number of kittens they have.

Oh there's more than three. Just three were living underneath the hood of my van. There's at least a dozen roaming around. There are farms all around me. I have a 5 acre lot with a 1/2 acre pond and an empty 5 acre lot next to me that is currently used for soy beans that I am thinking about buying. My neighbors each have at least another 5-6 acres on each side.

Then there are big farms all around too. That's probably where they came from.

My plan was to trap as many as I could and have them fixed but it seems the only way I can do that around here is if I do it all by myself and then pay to have them all fixed. Even then there would be no guaranteee that would solve the problem.

Another option would be to trap as many as possible, load them all up in my cargo van and drive them down to Mississippi and "relocate" them but that's supposedly illegal. Plus there's no guarantee another bunch wouldn't move right in and take their place afterwards.

A colony of ferals is selective about letting new arrivals join the colony and my help keep unfixed ferals away.

i just checked wolfie for matts.
it took a couple months, but he is matt free. [ it was worst on his butt and in his armpits. ]
i used 3 different brushes [ no scissors ]
he was really good. sometimes a brush secession was only 5 min. i only ever went 'til he said no.
sometimes it could be 20 mins. and he would purr.

Fortunately they are the number one and number two most likely to have matting.

Number one also gets dandruff. Number two a little but only about 5% of how bad number one is.

I've found a "Burt's Bees" product that works great on dandruff and the cats don't seem to mind it very much.

What “Burt’s Bees” product did you find, Rowan needs something for her sensitive skin, and without a scent…
Hopefully their spray product will be tolerated, a full on bath is what she really needs, but I doubt that would even be tolerated…

So far, I've applied it four times to my girl, Valentine.

Once (the second time) she bolted as the first spray came out, but she's let me do it twice since.

It really does reduce the amount of dandruff. I was actually shocked at how well it worked.
You can see a difference in just a couple days.
I usually brush, then apply.

Several sprays, and then work in.
Maybe another few sprays and another work in if she'll let me.

I had no idea Burt's Bees made feline products. lol They make the best lip balm on the market in my opinion. Been using it for years.
