What model of "Sony" U-Matic is that?

Sony VO-2810A which was the last of the top loaders before the VO-5000 series. The A version uses a 3-phase drum motor in lieu of the belt drive and eddy brake and has a somewhat crude TBC in that it replaces the tape sync & burst with an internally generated source for the video put jacks, the DUB connector maintains the original tape signalling.
It was the only top loader that was compatible with the later edit controllers that use variable speed/shuttle and frame accurate inserts based on internally generated timing markers.

Don't know what it cost new but I'm sure a significant chunk of that was based on weight alone, it tips the scale at 102 Lbs and I had to install a set of casters in the middle of the Magnavox bottom to keep the cabinet from sagging!

Oh, I have -- as most of us here, have experienced that. The more aggressive cat of the two almost year old cats I have (Choco) will tear my hand to shreds given the chance. Choco is also the more docile of the two cats I have but she's by far the more aggressive one when playing.

Her sister Rain is much more docile when playing. It's almost as if she knows the situation better, because she doesn't bite or claw anywhere near as aggressively as her sister Choco.

I've mentioned how I drape a sheet over the front of my couch. When the cats are under the couch I'll poke at it, and that's when both go into attack mode. I need two layers of sheets because these little monsters will rip into any movement and they don't hold back.
