Any cat lovers here?

Awww. We go though that with all we foster.

The last one was particularly difficult.
She really didn't want to go.
There are a few others that were more wrenching than "normal".
One little girl I had a real good relationship with kept looking directly at me with a "why are you leaving me" face.
If I could have one back.....

Interesting vet visit... tech got all bend out of shape over the name of one of our rescue cats Pussy Galore from the 007 movie Goldfinger calling it sexist and offensive. I tried to explain where the names came from but she wasn't having it. Seriously it's a female pussy cat, her sister is Miss Moneypenny and brother is Oddjob... offensive?

Well she is feral no more, actually I don't think she was too wild to begin with but now its on to the spoiled life. Meet Baby Doll. After a short discussion with the director we decided it would be best to get her into the rescue and eventually a loving home so I set a live trap outside my door and once tripped she didn't even put up a fight instead gorged herself on the expensive food I used.

Once inside she settled right in, I mean it was like a new home and she wasted no time making it hers and in the last hour has started demanding attention from me. Guess I'm momma now and for the next 21 days of the distemper quarantine so I will chronicle this as best I can here. At some point I'm going to make an attempt to live trap the siblings along with the big male I've named Shadow, whenever I'm working outside he's always right there in my shadow but never gets too close. I know there's going to be a litter in the coming months as I observed Shadow... umm getting busy last evening so I'm actively working on raising the needed funds to get him fixed & vaccinated. He's wild and that's not going to change so the best I can do is keep things from getting out of hand when I move the winter shelter into place for them. Not sure who the momma cat is going to be so I have my work cut out with winter approaching.

This evening. Not exactly happy with the rapid changes but loves the expensive food.

My Shadow

It's been about a year since the last of my four girls passed. My brother has a cat and so does a friend but I haven't seen her since the tornado destroyed her house. They're all OK.

I've been getting along fine but thought I'd do a lot better with another girl running around so I looked online at the local shelter cats and found one nearly 9 years old. I figured we're a pretty good match with us both being older and set in our ways.

Filled out adoption app this evening.

Hope it is a good match, enjoy your new roommate.

Well Shadow now has an appointment with the vet... trapping this one is going to be a challenge, he's very street smart and knows to avoid live trap. I can get close but not enough to actually catch him and even if I did he'd make hamburger out of me.

I've found there is a point after feeding a few times, when most of them will let me pick up and quickly either pivot or take one step.

If I have a transporter close enough to do that, my success rate is fairly high.

Can't do more then two moves though, and one is "pick up".

About the time the third move is attempted, claws are out and arms and legs start flying.

It's come down to locking the door open on the trap with food inside to get him comfortable and when the time is right the zip-tie comes off and he takes a little ride.

I never considered myself a cat person. I always got on well with cats that belonged to family, friends, and neighbors, but in the great dog vs. cat debate, I always sided with dogs. Little did I know.

I met my fiance 2.5 years ago. Early in our conversations, she asked me if I liked cats, reason being she had always had cats in her life and currently had a 7-year old female. I shared the above with her, said that I got along with cats and they seemed to like me, and added that I had no objections to living with one (she told me some time later that if I had reacted negatively to having a cat, she and I would not have continued. Lucky me!!) Four months later, over a long weekend, we adopted a male kitten from the local shelter, and two months after that, my fiance moved in with me and brought both kitties. BAM! Just like that I'm a cat person! And a year after that , we adopted a neighborhood feral kitten, so now we have 3 furry children. Meet Kuki (top), Lulu (middle), and Jaafar (bottom).

Kuki is our special needs child. A typical orange cat, he's closing in on 2.5 years old and still hasn't had his turn with the brain cell. He is slow to everything except when we change the water dish. He also has a plastic fetish...loves to chew on plastic bags, clear packing tape, etc.

Lulu is about 9 years old now, and she's the queen of the roost. She's the most reserved, but loves to lay beside me on the sofa in the evenings when I listen to music so I can scratch her neck and chin.

Jaafar is the youngest at 1.5 years, and he's our troublemaker. He wants to be in the middle of everything, always gets into places and things he's not supposed to (he's figured out how to open our closet doors), and is always first in line at mealtime. He also has a jealous streak in him, and will try to push his way in whenever you are playing with or giving some attention to one of the other kitties.

So my transformation is complete. I love our kitties, and will never be without at least one in my life. And I owe it all to my fiance. Thank you, Amal, for bringing these furry love muffins into my life.
