Anybody know anything about Phase Tech Model 10?

I have a line on a pair of these that need some work. Re-foam for sure. I cannot find any information on these anywhere on the web. Just wondering if anybody knows if these are any good or not.

Phase Tech made some pretty decent speakers in the 80's and 90's which is when I think these were made. Phase Tech is credited with inventing the soft dome tweeter which these have. I can find info on other Phase Tech model, but nothing on this one.

Phase Tech made a lot of very nice mass market speakers - easy to use and nice looking and sounding. They were big in the passive sub/sat field, but also made standard speakers. Many of their products used styrofoam flat fronted woofers and mids and consequently were linear phase (hence the name). They had a layer of black foam on the front of the styrofoam, I suspect to damp styrofoam's large resonance (400Hz?). The downside was that refoaming the drivers is much difficult than normal cones - the surface of the styrofoam is neither smooth nor hospitable to the surround, and the black foam stuff is gummy or crumbles and interferes with everything you are doing, and then looks wretched when you are done. And the weight of the styrofoam cone made the spiders sag in down facing drivers in the subwoofers.

You're thinking of Linear Phase white van speakers. Not to be confused with Phase Linear.

The Model 10 is a 2 way with a soft dome tweeter and a 10 inch woofer. The cabinets on these are vinyl and pretty beat up. I am wondering if it is worth it to just take the drivers, re-foam and put them in some similar sized cabinets.

I have a set of Phase Linear PC2's with 6" flat piston driver and soft dome tweeter. Heavy at around 25lb. Great bass down to around 45hz. Excellent speakers. The company is still in business (Florida I think?) and will refoam the flat piston drivers. Well worth buying as long as you can get them for a reasonable price.

I have some empty utah cabinets that a have great veneer. The cabinet sizes are really close so I could lu the drivers in there and do a recap. I can get these cheap.

Phase Technology made a tower speaker called the V-10. Definitely not white van, although people think that often, probably because of the name. They were founded in in 1978 by William Hecht, and as mentioned about, hold the patent for the soft dome tweeter.
I have a pair of Phase Tech 7T's, which are great speakers.
