Was wondering if anyone has a U-Turn Orbit turntable and what you think of it? Just getting back into listening to vinyl and this table was mentioned. My budget is $300-$350. Thanks for any and all input.

I don't have one but my favorite audio dealer(sadly now closed due to the owner's retirement) sold new Rega turntables along with just about any brand of turntables that were previously owned that you can imagine and he felt the U-Turn was quite a good little turntable. What options were you considering for yours ?

If I was getting one and wanted to keep the price down but have some performance items, I would get one of the no cost extra colors, the acrylic platter, the Ortofon OM5e(you can always get a Swiss nude elliptical needle for it later at not much cost that would really boost performance), and the cueing.

I was going to add the acrylic platter, preamp, cue lever, and a Quplifter. The dealer by me will give me all this for $380. a little over my budget but maybe go for it if people who have one have very few problem and like the sound it puts out.

I was wondering if you needed a preamp. Does U-Turn offer the Quplifter ? What does that cost ?

Unless you were to buy something used which I don't recommend to someone starting out, I can't imagine what you could buy for the money that would be better. It is a simple, honest, straight forward turntable that sounds very good. Actually, I shudder at the thought of something new that is less expensive.

I'd like to here from others as what they think of it. I read several reviews and they're mixed, some good and some complaints about the belt

they said it keeps slipping off. take a look at the design it's strange. To change the speed you move the belt on the pully

I had a Revolver Rebel where the belt ran around the platter and you changed the speed the same way. One trick is that if you play 45's, only leave the belt in the 45 position while you play 45's. If you leave it on the larger part of the pulley, it can stretch and fall off when you put it on the smaller section of the pulley for 33.3 rpm.

I love mine.
I'm a simple guy, bought this last year.
Has the built in pre-amp.
Speed is constant; no worries.
I don't play 45's.
Belt is only annoying because if your'e not careful taking an album off you take the belt off as well.
I spent something like $350 or so.

Can't complain.
