Anyone have a U-Turn Orbit turntable?

Changing speeds by manually moving the belt isn't an unusual thing. My Well Tempered Classic (and the Well Tempered Reference that I once owned) has the same thing - and the WT tables are near state of the art. Simplicity is sometimes a blessing! Mechanisms that do such things "automatically" can (and do) fail and create their own unwanted issues. Too bad they don't offer the AT VM95 as a cartridge option on the U-Turn - since you can put 5 different Styli on that cartridge, upgrade and tailoring to preference is quite easy with that cartridge. I have a C and an SH stylus for the one that I have and it's a nice platform. My MC cartridge still outperforms it, but it's a very competent little cartridge that starts at like $39 for a VM95C. Anyway, don't stress over having to manually move the belt to change speeds - 45's aren't all that high of a % of the Vinyl you will likely be playing.
I'm with you on the belt moving. In my case I don't expect to ever move it anyway. If' I'm going to play 45 or even 78's, that's what my DD's are for. This one is pure 33.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333...

I like the extra belt, though. :)

Agree too. Except that I have some LP recorder for 45rpm but are few, so is not a big deal the change the belt.
AG.

Yep. At the end of the day, if you're moving the belt every week or month, that's really not a big deal. If I was a radio station spinning vinyl and I was constantly switching between 33 and 45, obviously this TT would be the wrong choice. But that's not what it's made for. Heck, I suspect not all that many people even use the 45 speed except for some of those 12" 45's, which are pretty darned rare.

I have several hundred 45's, but I've never actually paid for one. And about half were beat up in juke boxes. i.e. they are just worn out. They are really more of a novelty for me. I've never really respected 45's, even in the 60's when my friends were buying them. I went straight to LP. My first being Whipped Cream and Other Delights when I was a freshman in high school. :D
