AR XA motor

Wondering if any of you guys have very seen a motor like this in a AR XA?

It's in a XA I'm working on for a friend.

It works fine speed wise.

It doesn't look like it's been modified.

The dual-voltage/ current motor from the XA Universal. Should be a switch under the platter marked with 110 and 220 V.

You probably right about the motor but there's no switch other than the On/Off switch.

Yeah John, That's the SOB I told you about in the PM. that has a very small shaft. Where as the Haydon has the 1/8" (.125)...that one is .078. Has a premotec type part number on it.

Yeah, 'cause if'n ya change it, you'll need ta change the pulley as well. I had a NOS pulley that fit that motor, and in a fit of stupidity I decided to open it to 1/8"..........having said that though, the motor you sent me appears to have a sleeve on the shaft to take it from .078 to .125.

Yes, Marc you know I have that one, originally purchased through the PX while I was in SE Asia in 1971. I had sent you the pulley to weight and you sent it back saying that you couldn't spin/balance/trim the material or some such thing. Preston

Yep, that's the same motor in the XA turntable that I have now. There's no switch under the platter on mine either, but you can change around the wiring to set it for 110 or 220 volt operation. First time I've had an XA with that type of motor in it. Usually I end up with the old fashioned dual motor type for some reason.

So far, in the single motor XA, I have come across 3 different motor types.
The basic Haydon 1.5W that the majority of them have. The motor in question, and now the motor (haydon) pictured in John's rebuild that has excessive side play. John sent me that first motor with the idea i could swap some internal parts with a motor that had a good stator and sleeve bushing.
The rotor and sleeve bushing in that motor is different than the "basic" model.

Three different motors, two different pulleys. And then to complicate things even more, the XB table had three different type arm posts in length and contruction at point of rotation. Depending on how the motor was mounted, two differnt pulleys as well there. And the XB subplatter spindle is different.
