I went to school on the coldest day in 1961 or 2. 20 below zero. But this year we may break our over 100 degree temp days of 41. Thank fully our elevation is 4000 ft. Other wise we would be competing with Tucson, Phoenix and Las Vegas or even Yuma.

My idea of a near perfect climate.

You guys can have the damn snow. I am sick of sitting on top of a mountain in SW PA.

I’m loving the mountains here; we get a bit of all 4 seasons. My place is just under 6000’ up. High enough to stay cool, but the snow’s usually not too heavy. If I want more “civilization”, I drive down the hill. Got Bakersfield in one direction (it’s almost civilized..), Los Angeles another, and the beach if I go “the back way”.

I guess it is nice to look at, but the weather isn't usually that great.

We are only at around 2200 ft, but within about 7 miles away it is 1100 ft. It's usually cold, snowy, and nasty for 5 months out of the year. It's amplified on this mountain. It's usually 5-10 degrees colder than town, and we could get hammered with snow, and they might not get anything. In recent years, it has rained constantly when it was warm enough. This summer, it has been unusually hot. More 90 degree days than I ever remember in one season, and little rain.

We are in the process of moving, not too far away, but I won't miss the added winter time misery of being up here.
